Anybody know anything about this particular bike. Found on craigslist and I'm looking for something for the summer. 3500 seems a little high for this bike but it has an extra set of rims and tires for dirt. Wondering if I should give him a call to look at it or just skip it. Also are these any good on the highway or pretty much only around town? Apparently its the 4-stroke version any better that the 2? Thanks.

That price is very steep. Check this out. I would buy this today if I had a buyer for my race bike.

Posting is gone, but you don't want a 2t ktm for the road. That's like a 90/10 dirt/street bike.
And 3500 is way too much. For something of that vintage, in perfect condition WITH the spare wheels should fetch 2000-2500.
Cliff's Cycles KTM
NETRA enduro B-vet

I just paid 2500 for an 05 250exc with some trick extras on it. It's a new generation too. Definitatly steep. I would never take it on the highway. But, if you in te market for a dual sport 50/50 dirt street take a look at a drz400. They are cheap and everywhere. They also have longer service intervals than other dual sport toys.
How about either of these bikes?

Are either of these able to be registered in MA?
If they come with a mass title (or any state street title) than you can register them. If they don't have a street title, but they have a manufacturers certificate of origion you can use that to get a mass title then once you have the title you can reg it. Try to find something with a title because your taking a chance without it.
I have a 2001 Ktm mxc 250 2t with a street title that I'm looking to sell
If your just looking for a street bike I have a ninja 250 for sale. It's got more HP than a single 250cc 4 stroke like the ones your looking at and handles alot better on the street. $2000 and it's yours. 2007 with 3,400 miles.

They are legal. It's all in what you want to do with the bike. Do you want to ride off road and have the ability to go trail to trail on the street legaly? Or do you want a street ride that will do the occasional dirt road? Or any mix in between.
Details?
I'm looking for something that I can have fun on. Riding on the street has become a chore lately because it seems like everyone in this college town I live in is trying to kill me when I ride. Most of the "fun" would be on dirt whenever I could manage it. Trail riding, open field. wouldn't mind trying some camping but I still need to make the commute to school. I have a track bike for when I feel the need to go fast. So I guess an on road, off road bike would be my best bet. I would love a V-strom but you cant get one on my budget. I've seen the KLR650 it's less expensive but seriously down on power and up on weight. So I guess what I'm saying is I have no idea what I should even be looking at for a bike.
edit: When I lived in North Dakota I had a Suzuki RH250 from either the late 80's or early 90's and I used to beat the hell out of it every day during the summer. It barely ran and the lights and stuff were taken off of it (cops dont care about registration there as long as your headed out of town or to your residence) but I loved it so i know I would love something capable in the dirt.
