Hello Everyone,
My 2008 CBR was recently stolen and I am awaiting a check from the insurance company. However in the meantime I am looking at bikes.
I found a brand new 2008 going for $7,999 and I can add an exhaust, frame sliders, windscreen, 4 year honda warranty and be out the door for $10,060
However I was just told by a dealer they could put me on a 2011 brand new for $9,671 out the door stock.
My question is have the internals or ANYTHING been changed between 2008 and 2011 models? If they are pretty much identical I would probably go with the 2008 just because I get all the extras for $400 more than the 2011 model alone.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks for the information, does not seem to be any MAJOR changes so I think I will go with the 2008. I don't plan to race and am not looking at the bike as an investment rather a way to go to/from work every day and hit the twisties on the weekends.
Have you looked at used CBR600RRs? If you can get new that cheap imagine what you could save buying a lightly used one...
yea there are plenty of used ones down here however they are going for more than the new one. The used ones are anywhere from 7,500 - 9,500

2k sounds like a lot for those extras. I'd buy the 11 and then pick up the extras piecemeal over the next fee months and install with a friend for free.

Dude, craigslist is your friend.
Definitely get the 11.
they are either putting a full exhaust on or charging an arm and a leg for install. plus they'll keep the stock stuff they take off and sell it.
I say buy the 08 and buy a slip on, power commander, frame sliders, and windscreen and put them on yourself then have it dyno tuned and you're still well under what they want.

you're kidding right, there's no way i would let them keep the stock stuff, i paid for it when I bought the bike so it is my property. Just because I have them put something else on the bike does not mean I am giving them the stock parts.
I am not sure how hard it is to put a slip on exhaust on but that would be my only hard part because I believe the frame sliders are rather easy to install.
the accessories comes to $1267, I got the 2 grand because of the 4 year Honda warranty also added which is $799. so for the accessories $1267 seems a bit steep since the accessories are only about $800.
I have checked Craigslist, there is basically NOTHING in my area

Given the totally oblivious drivers here in MA, I would get ABS in a heartbeat.

Motorcyclist comparo of ABS v. non-ABS
just FYI the ABS is pretty bitchin. It adds minimal weight to the bike and it will save your butt when you need it most. I've been there.
I had a 2008 600RR, fun bike. I never did anything to it but a new windscreen and a compliment of sliders. Thing had power for the street and track. My advise, get the 11 and then get parts as you need/want over time. Unless you are one of the 600 riding freiking wizards on here you arent going to be able to use all that high RPM juice until you have been making tracks with that thing for a long time.
but yeah, ABS is your friend, also ups resale value. does add like 12 lbs tho. but a slip-on takes that back off.

Dealers should be giving these things away with the warehouse stocked. I got my ex an 03 600rr in 04 brand new for $6200 done.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Actually the 2007/08 models have a little bit more power. The latest models were castrated up top. The difference is not huge, but where the competition has been moving ahead the CBR has been moving back, so now it lags in power behind all of them. It is a terrific bike. I would either buy a 2007/08 used not from dealer or an 11 from the dealer. They are charging you too much for the 08.
