    2nd gear wheelie 07 gsxr 750

im not much of a stunter.. i prefer trakdays and twisty roads.
but i do love the occasional classic wheelie.

    i never had a problem clutching a wheelie on my 03 R6, my 04 ZX10R.
my 07 gixxa 750 refuses... anyone else feel this ?
doesnt matter what rpm or speed im at.. the front tire will come up for a second and then drop..
doesnt do it in 1st however 1st gear is very easy to clutch up for obvious reasons..
its almost as if it has a wheelie kill switch..
    maybe its the slipper clutch?

More Gas less slip... it will either come up Fast or spin the rear..

and your best to learn how to cover the rear break also...it may save you some $$$$$

Got too much Suzie in your Uki.
I'm with Ryan. Use more YUT.

(that's a serious answer, btw. I'm a big proponent of the wheelie for children foundation)

Sit back as far as you can on the seat, if that doesn't help try changing your gearing go down 1 tooth in the front and up 2-3 in the rear

Go by your closest gas station and pick up some NOS energy drink.

Seriously though my roommate had a 07 750 would take the wheel off the ground every time I'd get on it a lil hard and thats on stock gearing. I suggest putting more YUT into it.

    Re: 2nd gear wheelie 07 gsxr 750

    I know how to wheelie.
I never had a problem on my R6 or zx10
its really odd, was just wondering if anyone else noticed it.

it just seems like it comes up for a second and hits the ground even as im
    giving it more throttle.

like i was sayin, it almost feels like there is a system in place to stop it..

i dont want to keep dropping the clutch on it either.

other than that, i love the bike.. went to the track for the 1st time with it last month.. I have BT016 on it.. it was awesome !!..

i cant believe ridin is almost over already.

ohh ,, sorry for the newbie question.. whats YUT?

My 750 required a ton of YUT UGH to get the front wheel off in 2nd...Stick to wapping the throttle at 35mph in first..

on second thought...Just looked at the pic of your bike. I think the weight of the front reflectors is whats hurting your whillies

    Re: 2nd gear wheelie 07 gsxr 750

    Oye...

Step 1: Put your feet on the rear passenger pegs. Keep your knees bent slightly.

Step 2: Traveling in 2nd gear apply maximum "YUT"... or, lean forward a bit and get ready to blip and dump (probably need to rev higher than 7k).

Step 3: DO NOT JERK THE BARS WITH YOUR HANDS. In one smooth motion, bend your knees a bit dump the clutch and sway your body weight back over the seat straightening out your knees as the bike comes up. LET THE BIKE COME TO YOU, don't try to jerk the bike because if your hands slip it will be expensive and you'll get mad. Done correctly, this is what's known as the "UHHHHHHH".

*This is much more difficult to master than clutch-up/power wheelies in 1st gear. It's all about timing.

** Notice that your feet are on the rear pegs, you thus have no control over the rear brake. Don't attempt to hit balance until you're used to the sensation of how the bike reacts to the speed and torque in 2nd gear.

*** After popping 2nd gear wheelies... ONLY attempt to ride a wheelie with your right foot over the rear brake, you will need that extra control as you're learning.

Good luck, and you didn't hear this from me if you go fucking something up.

    HAHAAH yous are awesome.

Ya im gonna take the reflectors off.. it has to be that !!!

ya.. I appear to not be hitting the right speed and RPM combo.
I never had the problem with the other 2 bikes.. no biggy..
i dont want to hammer on the clutch basket.. just figured Id see if anyone
    else saw this .
By some of the responses it seems the bike has a lil prob doing 2nd or at least it has a very small window..

    Re: 2nd gear wheelie 07 gsxr 750

Found this wheelie silliness on another site:
I am beginning to get really comfortable with the beast, (3000 miles and counting). Have been riding the traction control "off" for weeks now, and finally am getting comfort level in playing with the throttle with second gear power wheelies, and now with first gear power wheelies. The goal is eventually to feel comfort with third gear ones as well, but you have to be at 110+ to be in the zone, not smart on the street for every reason you can imagine.
