Im looking at getting a supermoto for a spare/fun bike. I have a few dirty bikes here that would be a prime candidate for a street conversion. I have some with actual titles but have never been registered and arent even close to being street legal and they never were. I have a lovely cr500 sitting in the corner that would be flat out dangerous on the road but im sure it would be fun.
Is this something i can register out of state and bring in or is it a pipe dream? I can make them street legal fairly easily but i dont know if it can even be done in ma.
As long as you have a legit street title you can make it happen.
My 300xc has a plate. And the 300 before that, and a few other dirtbikes.
Paperwork is key, the rest is just parts.

In MA as far as I know if you buy a bike with an off-road title you can go to the RMV and request a new title in your name. When you get the new title you can go back and register it. I've never done it but I believe that's how a lot of bikes get on the road. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Pretty sure thats wrong.
I do know that the older KTM 2 strokes come with a street title rather than a certificate of ownership. Not sure about new ones. I registered my 2000 model but never put it on the street.
My 98 200exc is plated and on the road.

The new ones cone with a mso, the ky is they don't say: for offroad use only.
I did have a plated klx400 a few years back, the po just took the mso, put it in a typewriter, and just X'ed over the offroad only part. It got through.
Bottom line, without "selling" it to someone in a state that'll register everything, you need paperwork.

2011 KTM 2-smoker with a plate in RI. If i can get a plate in RI, it can be done anywhere!! I bought the bike new, walked into the DMV with my paperwork and walked out with a plate 20 minutes later.
Only thing missing on mine so far to be 100%, a left mirror of some sort and a horn. It has a headlight with high and low, brake/tail light..hand signals for directionals and a RI plate and insurance

I had a plated 600 so we can throw that cc thing right out.

I believe ktm has a 960 or some such legal supermoto ao im not sure of the cc thing. I can get titled 250 fromaes that fit the 500 motor but they are pricey if it comes to that. Ill have to dig up some of my titles and see what they say. If i can do it im gonna. Even a 250 would be fun but i have the 500 and dont ride it and figured i may be able to put it to good use.
