I'm going to have some splainin to do.
Unknown at this point.
I've only been up and down the driveway at this point.
Seems to idle kinda funny.
Clutch engagement seems funny.
Needs rubber.
Needs at least rear brakes.
I'll swap all fluids before really doing anything with it.
We'll see.

It didn't need rear brakes...
Congrats man. That is friggin' awesome.
If you need help scratching the wheels.. er.. changing the tires on the cheap, I now have some experience.
Edit: What year? It's an F4i, right?

Congrats!
I guess we won't be seeing the 'wing out on the track anymore?
I got the same bike, mine is orange and black.
99. It's an F4. It's not an F4i. Did I mention I'm a cheap bastard?
This doesn't preclude the 'wing from getting on the track. The 'wing on the track is actually pretty fun and pretty challenging. I've not been on this enough to know how I feel about it. Right now, by comparison, it's horribly "twitchey" (I only have a 1000lb 1.8L bike for comparison) . Since I'm close, nothing prevents me from bringing both
I actually liked the orange one better than the yellow, but cheap bastards can't be choosers.

Sweet, congrats, Jason. Just remember, though - when you're backing it out, don't bother trying to find 'reverse'.
Wait... there are bikes that don't have reverse? Seriously? When did they start this?
Yea, I'm just currently of the opinion that if I can move the 'wing around I can move a seebarf around.
I have lots of opportunity to screw this up. We'll see if it works.
That looks right about exactly like the condition bike I imagined myself bringing home. Right down to the fairing crack. Looked into a DIY repair yet? Tons of interesting vids on that subject on the 'tube.
I have plenty of beer here already. More than enough to do the job.
Seriously though, I have cheap tire gear: a collection of motion pro tire irons, an HF balancing jig, a scrap of carpet and a 2x4 rigged up as a bead breaker, and MB lemon scent furniture polish to use as lube. Oh, and what probably works out to a lifetime supply (for me) of stick on wheel weights.
I'd loan you any of the above if you like. Except the 2x4, that won't fit in the car. Find your own.
Are you mounting soft sport rubber? I hear that is easier to mount than the heavy, stiff sport-touring rubber I put on my 'strom. Although the 'strom takes dinky 150-series rears. Wider stuff might be harder.
No center stand on sport bikes, right? Bummer, you can't do this.
It impresses the neighbors.
this just means that now he can tow the F4 to the track behind the Wing and have options of what he wants to ride from session to session lol grats on the purchase!!

Nice, I used to have that exact bike. Loved it. Congrats.
DIY Plastic Repair, yep. Found some Yellow Zip Ties to use as filler material so that I wouldn't have to paint afterwards. Haven't found any smoke translucent ones to use on the windscreen yet
.
Tires. Pilot Road 2's. I just needed something until I figure out what I need. The rear that's on the bike won't pass inspection at this point.
No center stand. Will probably need to get some stands. Will probably get the sort that hooks on the triple tee, as I suspect a new set of springs will be in my future (since I'm fat). Suspension right now feels really soft, but I haven't played with it at all. Tire changes are certainly going to be different than they have been.
The fact that my trailer is a 1-7/8" hitch and the ball on the wing is a 1-7/8" isn't a coincidence. I don't know if I'll actually do this, but I can. Leo does and he rides up from NJ or NY.
Thanks All!
Zip-ties... oh the humanity!
Road 3's are what I wrestled onto the 'strom this spring. It was some work. I imagine Road 2's are just about as bad.
That thing weighs less than 400 lbs.. you should be able to get creative without resorting to a fancy front stand. Me, I'd rather spend the money on tires and track time. I know some here see things differently.
Won't save you from needing a rear-stand though.

Do a manual CCT to it also....as Honda's are known for it and get a F4i subframe and tail they look much better than the seadoo seat.. I had an 02 F4i...

Manual CCT, APE seems to be the one most recommended from what I've found. Is that what you used? Any idea why one would use the "Pro" version rather than the "more price conscious" (i.e. cheap bastard) version? With the mileage on the bike ~26k I'm a bit surprised that this hasn't been an issue already. Perhaps there's one installed already? I don't know much about the bike's history. The guy I bought it from hadn't had it very long.
The seat. I don't care "all that much" about how it looks, but some comments I've found from others have been that the F4 split seat mod also makes it much easier to get your body position right, where the "banana" seat doesn't really help you much. Replacing the rear section, however, would probably also solve my problem with the crappy integrated tail light that's on there right now not working correctly.
My current list of stuff that I need to buy / fix is starting to sound more like a winter project than a motorcycle![]()
For a second there I thought you picked up a superhawk...
Interestingly, there is a contingency of people on the superhawk forum that claim that you don't need the manual CCT and all you need it to replace the original every 30k miles. The R/R is a different story...
Enjoy the bike!
Yea.....Its what I use and really its all you have to chose from is the APE one...and if your on the right side of the bike, pull that side fairing bolt and look in at the side of the motor near the top...if you see anything anodized usually either Blue or Red its got one done. There is a aftermarket screen in the way of where you can usually see it...
and at those miles i think either you have a good one or its been done......Id say its been done but its just a guess. But they make a racket when needed.
