BTW my BMW (cage) has 299.5k

PS - I have worn out a jap sportbike from use, not neglect... I rode my CBR1100XX to the point of death at 53K miles... at the time the honda tech informed me it was the highest mileage CBR1100 he had ever seen. Not that those monkies know much of anything...

I have heard many fellow SV riders that have a mere 30k-40k tell me their mechanics tell them the same thing. and I am told of a fellow who owns a CBR F2 with over 175k

there is no reason any liquid cooled sportbike motor can't last well over 100k, they just have to be ridden on a regular basis and maintained properly

So , when you leave it tru winter , its not good for the bike ?

correct, you should ride all winter

as far as riding at the revlimiter all the time, no, but at the extreme payload capacity of the SV and a little above and droning for several hours non stop, you betcha.

actually it's more detrimental on an engine to lug it under load than to keep it reved, there is more metal to metal contact on the bearing surfaced due to inadequate oiling

SVixxer, I know your avatar! That is dougmo531 from the San Francisco Area on BARF (www.bayarearidersforum.com). That really is his R1 and he really is a CHP officer!

How many people do you know that have actually worn out a Japanese bike beyond repair (due to riding, not neglect)?
What, you mean all those wheelies, trackdays, and burnouts are bad for a Japanese bike??

My ZRX1200 might fall into the neglect category. I would be happy if it was still running at 50,000 miles, but I will sell it before 30,000 miles.
