So I'm getting really good at blowing work off on Fridays to go riding. I think is now the 3rd one in a row? Seeing as it's a bit cold out today, I've been out for a few shortish 2 hour rides.
Anyway, I just found this *sick* road in the Westwood / Dover area. It's like a 4 to 6 mile mini version of Deal's Gap or something. Hairpins, essess, sweepers, decreasing, etc one right after another for the whole thing. However, there were a few problems with it;
a) sand. the shoulders were pretty sandy and a good amount of if was in the road.
b) it's kinda narrow, and some of the turns are TIGHT, cars were running a bit wide on them which was kinda scary
c) slightly residenital for part of it with a few hiden drive ways to watch out for.
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone on here is familiar with roads in the Weswtwood / Dover area. I'm curious to know if that road is sandy all year, or just in the spring. PM me and we can talk more about it for anyone interetsed.

Those roads are pretty well known among us bicyclists... I don't know which particular road you are talking about but I'm sure I've been down it 2-3x this season already.
They will eventually get cleaned up... but the bumpy pavement & houses will not be going away.
the first question I have, have you ever been to Deals Gap ?????Originally posted by chr|s sedition

yes... then I want to see this road, no, I suggest you don't compare, you would be misleading people into believing that it's similar when most likely it doesn't even come close.

Hey, I'm looking for goood roads to ride on(isn't everyone?) could you tell me the street name. Perhaps PM it to me if you don't want everyone to know. Thanks.
strange thing is mark, I remember going on a group ride in that area a couple years ago, and I was told we were going to a "mini deals gap" But you know what, I still never seen anything in New England that can be compared with the dragon.Originally posted by R7

the closest "mini deals gap" that I have ever found is a 5 mile segment of Ilion Gorge on Rt 51 in New York

it would make you a nice day trip, there's a lot of nice riding across the lake from you, some of the best twisties originate out of Moriah Center, Essex Cty 7 heads up to Elizabethtown, Essex Cty 6 cuts over to Rt 9 (route 9 is a terrible concrete road) Essex cty 4 also cuts over to 9 a little closer to Schroon lake, Rt 8 thru Speculator to Poland then south on 28 will get you to herkimerOriginally posted by Nikon

the time Crybaby crashed his R7 at the track is the reason I won't do a track day, I can't afford to crash my SV cause of 20 other testosterone driven bikes.Originally posted by Nikon

I plan on doing the gravel dragon this year, I never spend too much time at the deals, most of my passes thru are just enroute, I don't think of it as a destination, I'm going to explore more this year, I'm gonna be looking at land too.Originally posted by R7

Could it be Walpole Street, which runs from Medfield (really close to Bubbling Brook ice cream in Westwood - Rt 109) to Dover center?Originally posted by chr|s sedition

I take that road just about every day that I'm riding to work. From there I go North Street which goes from Westwood to Walpole/Norwood.
As noted, it is a great road, but there are driveways every 50 yards, there is always sand on the road, and at the end of it, the Dover LEO lair.
chr|s sedition, does this sound like the same road? If not, please share!!!![]()
