well, since my ankle is vastly improved and i'll be heading back to work next week i decided to go for a little 70 mile cruise around south eastern MA. my first attempt at a ride post accident. i was actually more nervouse than i thought i'd be. i must have paced around staring at my gear for 45 minutes before i started getting dressed.
seeing as i have as many miles in an ambulance this season as i have on the bike, i was abit wobbly for the first 5 miles or so. actually wobbly and terrified. i was so tense it wasn't even funny. the fact that i was on the same buell that just tossed me down the road a few months ago probably wasn't helping. once i made it off the highway and into the back roads i relaxed alot and it all came back to me...just like riding a, um, bike.
by the end of the ride i was back in to some what of a groove and actually enjoying myself. though i'm still a bit rusty and i have to plan my stops so most of the wieght ends up on my left foot.
excellent day for a ride, mid week traffic was almost nonexistant, weather was perfect. so nice to be back in the saddle again. now i just can't wait to get my CB550 road ready.
I know EXACTLY what you're feeling! Been there. Ive got 3 crashes under my belt. You'll do just fine. Being a bit nervous at first is perfectly understandable...you had a bad crash after all! Ive gone thru the same thing, and it takes some adjusting to being back on the road, back in traffic, etc. Let me tell you something...and I'm only telling it to make a point...a few years back, a good friend of mine was killed on his bike. It deeply affected me to say the least. Not only because I had lost a friend first and foremost, but as a fellow rider. I swear, for the longest time, I was really tense and "jumpy" on the bike...not enjoying riding at all. But over time, I grew back into my usual mindset, and let go of the nervous, hinky feelings I had. So, just get out and ride, ok? It's the best medicine....

It's generally a good principle to read a post in it's entirety before responding or asking dump questions...![]()

yeah, the green monster deffinatly got it right. my CB550 isn't quite road ready yet so i took out my father's buell... it was back on the road long before i was.
now i'm really excited to get that old CB550 up and running. my desire to ride is still there...but after all 11 years on sportbikes and crashing on both street and track... i think it's time for a change of pace. i don't even feel much like speeding.
No, it's just me being an Asshole...I took that to mean he was on the same bike he crashed on...I miss something?
I'm good at it!![]()

...and that is why i bought a vintage bike and not a motard. thanks to all you other motard owners i have realized that buying a "slow" motard is no kinda way to slow yourself down.
besides, i've ridden a dirt bike like twice in my life and although both times were alot of fun...niether ended well. the good news is that the CR250 footpeg scar in my armpit has finally faded away.
