We had to go out of our way, KB wanted to pickup a bottle of Everclear in Maryville. Heading back to the Ridge. myself on my SV, Jamie on his RC51 and KB on his Superchicken iirc. late in day, we expect to get back just at dusk. not far off 441, jamie & KB stop to put raingear on, I forge on , it's apparent were headed into a thundershower, as I ride by the river on my right, the wind picks up, it becomes darker real quick, then KB & Jamie catch up and pass me as we approach the Tabcat bridge, that was last I saw of t hem till I got back to house, The sky opened up, poured buckets, pitch black, then blinding lightening, pelting rain, leaves, twigs and branches falling out of trees, at one point, I think near the Lookout, it was hail. I continued slogging on. As I approach the Joyce Kilmer cutoff, I contemplate if I should go the long way or take the even twistier knarly rough surface shortcut. I took the shortcut, by now, the rain had letup, almost stopped, it was as foggy in places as I've ever seen. I made it back, only a couple minutes behind KB & Jamie that went the long way

Right now.. probably riding the Kanc and BNR last year with some that post here. Gawd, I do love BNR.
Great weather. No cops. No crashes. No breakdowns.
Always looking to improve on that.
I rode the Mohawk Trail for the first time, all the way up to the top of Mt. Greylock with a friend who since moved to Florida. Bittersweet memories.
I think of him every time we ride through Florida, MA

My most memorable ride would probably have to be the first time I rode the Trans-Labrador Highway, on my XR650L, not weighed down by luggage because it was being carried in my friend James's Jeep, so I was free to rip along the gravel at 60-70mph through the vast, wide-open northern countryside, taking in for the first time what was practically an alien world to me. I don't think I've ever had a more exhilarating ride.

Probably the day I got out of work at 5 in Ludlow VT, decided to take a little tour up to Fair Haven, then simply decided not to stop and kept going north thinking I could make VT bike night. I got there too late (everyone was gone) and decided to cruise around Burlington for a bit. Got some dinner, then proceeded up to my family's lake house on Isle La Motte. Got there in the dark although it was still 70*. The next day I did a big tour of the notches including Smugs, the App Gap and all of 100, with some breaks in between. I finally got back home at about 6PM. It was a lot of riding on my Z1000 but it was absolutely fantastic to hit all the great spots during a week day.
I think the most enjoyable rides for me are those that are completely unplanned and by the seat of your pants.

I did a similar ride once, in September on one of the nascar race days at Loudon cause I remember the traffic on the way back in the evening, luckily it was going in opposite direction, I took my normal route to VT, NH 140, NH 11, I89 to South Royalton, then 107 over to 100, I did Brandon Gap, Middlebury Gap, Lincoln Gap, Appilachia Gap, Smugglers Notch and hazens notch then back home, over 600 miles that day

On my old EX 250 back in '05, coming home from work one night, saw black clouds up ahead on a beautiful day with 0% chance of rain, so I stopped to put on my rain gear, despite getting laughed at by a dude on a harley. Rained so hard I was soaked within a few minutes. The roads were covered in about 6" water and the visibility was terrible. Got home and it was 75 and beautiful, Rob thought I went swimming on my way home - no sign of rain anywhere. That ride enforced my belief that you really do have to be prepared for anything.

There have been a few. Most recently was last summer when I took a day off, did the White Mountains and hit a perfectly clear, beautiful warm at the summit day, at Mount Washington. It was nice around Winnasquam, Winni and Ossipee and Newfound Lakes.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Deals Gap trip with the NESR crew in 2006, every ride was awesome. But one stood out more than the rest!
3 of us set out to explore dirt roads, 2 motards and 1 SV650 (RandyO). Small hill climbs, water crossings, slick rocks, and out in the middle of knowwhere. After 3 or 4 hours of riding, we stop for a rest and decide the road has ended! I mention I'm gonna need fuel soon, and Randy says...Yeah, me too....My fuel light has been on the for the 25 miles

Palomar on the BMW trying to catch up to Hammadown (yeah not happening) or Group Ride with Alicia on the back of the BMW passing slower riders on sport bikes....
Then there is Palomar on the hyper.... words do not express... If it wasnt for the torture of a ride there and back all freeway it would beat both of the above.
East Coast
Wheelies on the Curtis ribs ride. not even wheelies, more like "hey second gear gets a little out of control when you do this"

Saved my dumb ass on the street more times than I can count. I think the mental wall it helped break down translated more with 2up riding as I HATE going slow just because I have a passenger. boring

Rte2 with the Mrs before she was the Mrs. left at 9am got home by 10pm. A ton of memorable moments, but in the end freezing for the last 20mi doing about 95 with a car on our ass on the highway. thought to myself "what kind of crazy asshole drives this close to two people on motorcycles this late at night?" move over a lane....
Turns out a state trooper does just that.... and flys by doing well over 95....

somewhere up in Vermont with Corey and Dan. was doing 120+ on some back roads that the speed limit was 25mph.
I had accidentally put lower grade gas and my bike shut off while i was leaned over. bike fish tailed every way possible and i somehow managed to put it back up and stop it on some sand pit on the side of the road. there is a picture of the spot somewhere in my phone but cant find it/
My gay friend Mickey and his boyfriend hooked up with this guy in providence once. They said he was so drunk he thought they were chicks and he was at some college in Boston. They supposedly all had an awesome time.
Coming back from the Gaspe last year we came down through NH and hit some back roads, not sure if I could ever find them again. But just the final run home after being on the road for 6 days and cranking down those back twisties was a great time. That's probably the hardest I ever ran the FJR.

Mother's Day 2000. Had a tear across the Kanc that only took a few of us about 10 minutes, 15 tops. A small handful of us were seeing speeds WELL into triple-digits. Mellowed out for some scenic ride time, then the same handful of us tore away and started dicing it up down NH route 153. Long story short, I wadded the RF900R and basically walked away. I learned some time later that I had cracked ribs in my back, broken collar bone, crushed my shoulder blade and chipped vertabrae. All those injuries surface well later on as I really didn't seek medical attention. It took years in some cases to learn the extent of my injuries...
We called that 'The Crack Ride'...![]()
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Which ride was it that sparked the creation of NESR? If I remember the legend correctly, it involved a mysterious rider blasting through a NH tollbooth on one wheel wearing nothing but tighty whities and a monacle, and then being scorned on SRNE for the act... amiright???
I don't remember the above scorning or shenanigans posted on SRNE. I guess I missed that.
I, with about 13 others, went to the gap in 1999. The gap and the Skyway were great, as well as piles of other roads I can't remember. But the best was when the guys out front took a wrong turn and another guy and I took over the lead and pretty much lost everyone behind us. And we flew up behind a sheriff at 90+. He realized there was a car behind him and then there we were. His arm comes out the window and points to the shoulder, so we pull over and a good ol southern boy gets outta the car. He comes back to us and says "this is a no possum zone"...I immediately look out into the road for a dead possum and am wondering why the hell he's telling us to watch out for road kill when we were doing 40 over the limit. Helmet still on, bike was still running. "This use to be a possum zone, now it's a construction zone, there's no possum in a construction zone".....wtf...then I realized he was saying "passing". In the end I'm glad he never looked at the VT and MA tags on the bikes, he'd probably have capped us. He got back in his car and took off, then everyone else came around the corner. That thick southern twang threw me for a loop. First and only time down south.
