I've had mine about a week now and I have to say this thing is SWEET!! Clocked 168 miles so far, to include 7 miles of whoolies, 2 miles of stoppies, and about 20 miles of burnouts.
I just put it's 3rd gallon of gas in.
Going to end up going a bit mod crazy on this one just because it's so fucking fun. M4 pipe showed up last night so I had to spend the 5 minutes and install it. Left the dB killer in it and it's still like "BRAAAAAP!!!!"
Waiting for PCV and fender eliminator to show up next week then I'll get into the next round. Definitely going with the full Ohlins treatment, I can get the cartridges and rear shock for about $700 shipped. Much needed upgrade for a fella my size. Rubber needs to be addressed as the no names are absolute crap. That and I've been doing burnouts and backing it in everywhere I go.
I want gold fucking handlebars. Gonna go with some Renthal fat bars and some 2" risers I believe. Bar end mirrors and some Pazzo's. Not sure if I'll be able to live without the Woodcraft rearsets.
You guys know I like to fab stuff, so maybe I'll make a set of front and rear stands this winter.
Anyway, any other Groms out there? Fanboys? Let's hear about it.

Don't have time to send the link but google grom motorcycle racing videos and then beg LRRS to open a new class.
Woodcraft makes rearsets for that puppy, too.

Hence the begging part.
I get your point, and I was mostly joking.
I will probably never buy a 300 or a Grom but I think I could see myself buying a Grom before a 300. It could serve as a pit-bike and I'd imagine it would deliver a totally different experience on the track, vs. a 300 which seems like it would just be a lighter, lower powered version of a sport bike. Fun, yes, but for the same reason I have a motard and a 600 instead of a v-twin or liter bike and a 600 it doesn't seem like a 300 would be different enough. (Note I haven't ridden a Grom or a 300)

I have no experience on a 300 either, but I do love the Grom. I'm 6'3 230 lbs and it totes me around nicely. I live in Quincy and I've used it for a lot of getting around stuff. Down to my shop in Brockton, up to my sister's place in Somerville, out to lunch, whatever. It's a blast to ride, I hop on curbs and bypass traffic, dodge between lanes, and now that there's an exhaust on there I make old ladies give me that sour puss face that screams disapproval.
I don't have any real interest in racing it myself, but I'd like to take it out for a session at a track day for shits and giggles. I think that NHMS is too big of a track, although there are some sections that could be a lot of fun. Even more fun? How about that section of track they run around NASCAR Turns 1&2 for Bandoleros? Go Kart tracks would be sweet too. Could change gearing around and make it a lot more punchy.

I have heard the Ohilns treatment is tits for that thing.
I also would be unable to resist the Woodcraft rearsets.
As for racing, I've heard a couple places are trying to get a series going. I've read of a guy who does NJ MiniGP and is planning to race one there. But honestly, for go-cart sized courses, the XR/CRF100/TTR125 like Kurlon is into seems like a better deal for uber-low-buck racing. Grom is just too 'spensive and too new for that kind of missuse.
Now if you live in a place where it is basically the only kind of mini you can plate. Totally makes sense.
Saw photos from motorcycle night in Lowell a few weeks back where a guy showed up with three plated with sequential MA tags.![]()
Cool bike, how is the leg room? I'm an inch shorter than you, but when I saw one in a showroom I had trouble imagining sitting on it.
Did I see you in a torrential downpour somewhere on the south shore last week? It was a red grom, that's all I remember about the situation, not sure day or location. I was on a black tiger.

Leg room is pretty much fine. It's a bit more cramped riding 2-up, even more so riding 3-up.
That was definitely me, Wednesday probably. I rode from Quincy to my shop down in Brockton via hwy 37 and 28. I had left my truck there the night before and rode my DRZ home to trade in for the Grom.

I see data on power to weight ratios all the time, but does anybody track power to price ratios?
I think the Grom almost takes lowest in that category....
At ~10HP / $3,100 = 0.00323 HP/$
It is right down there with the 1199 Superleggera at 0.00308 HP/$
Not bashing the Grom, just thought it was an interesting comparison.....

Beats the TW200 = 16 / $4,590 = 0.00349

But the ruckus does not have to be registered or insured.
Aw snap! Pimp on playa!
Took a rip from Quincy to Kendall Sq for dinner with the fam. Snuck past the gate of a corporate parking garage which was totally empty. Used the space for some grade "A" hooliganism. SWEET!!!!! Oh! Got the fender eliminator in and swapped it out before I left. Need to get some LED resistors but the thing looks tits! Spy shot from the parking garage.
Just need to take care if handlebars and those ugly ass mirrors now![]()

Awesome. I could never justify the price of a new one, but maybe in a few years I'll find a used one...

Motorsports in auburn has 3 on the floor. Was poking around at them yesterday. Looks like a ton of fun!
Depends. Do you like whoolies, stoppies, and burnouts? All while looking like a boss?
