So i'm replacing a Honda OEM decal on the side fairing of my 600rr and I have been reading about two different methods of putting it on.
Dry or Wet.... anyone have anys suggestions or personal experience with these.
It's a very odd shapped decal and expensive as well and I'd like to get it right the first time with no bubbles.
Here are some pictures...

wet, place, squeegee, exactor knife to pop possible bubbles, squeegee, done.
now when I wet it I use some water and a drop of dish soap
do i just spray the panel or spray the actual back of the sticker?
We used to use dishsoap and water... Now we use thisalong with a squeegie and a hair dryer.
Heat guns are too hot. A good hair dryer is generally enough heat.
Id add to this thread if it was necessary, but the pros have already hit the nail on the head
Don't install it in direct sunlight. Made that mistake with the custom-colored coast guard lettering on one side of my boat...

Ya, windex or soapy water allows you to move it around to get placement right, then squeegee away.

dish soap is not really recommended because it takes forever to evaporate, go to walmart of vip and buy a bottle of sticker on or get a little bottle from DeCal Works of application fluid. Just saying, I own a vinyl machine and have tried a lot of ways and the soap is just a bad idea

You're probably right. Last time I did vinyl was in phoenix so anything you used evaporated pretty quickly.Originally Posted by lrrs428

are most decals on bikes adhesive backed or simply vinyl that gets applied wet and when dry is becomes stuck on? I want to replace a few body stickers on my GSXR but thought they were all self-stick......
they are self adhesive. the spray makes the sticker part not as adhesive so you can maneuver and un-peel and re-stick the decal to the correct place before the adhesive sets permanently.
as you can see from my decal it was a difficult one to put on and I have no bubbles at all and it's in the perfect position. it would have been F'ed up had I not used the sticker on solution because I did have to reposition it twice before it was perfect
online, couldn't find it locally so I bought the big bottle and I used only a couple sprays out of it.. just enough to wet the sticker.
if you have a couple stickers you can just use mine
I use the same thing the tinters use. Water and baby shampoo. Works fantastic and is easily available and cheap.
