    Dear scooter rider

    Dear Deathwish,

You are riding a two wheeled motor vehicle in Boston traffic without the height, braking, suspension or acceleration of a motorcycle. And without protective gear (not even gloves) or skill.

Passing lines of traffic, turning inside a turning motorcycle, and doing so two-up may be hazardous to your health.

They don't have THAT far to fall. Couldn't possibly get hurt on a scooter, right?

    Re: Dear scooter rider

There's a bunch of folks moved into SoBo this weekend, including students (college students never used to live in Southie before) so there's about 5X the scooters there were a week ago.

And based on recent observation a fair number are going to be grease spots.

Sarcastic is my default personality .

I got rashed up on a pedal bike once. Pavement doesn't care what you fall off, it will still fuck you up.

I rip my Vino around town in almost full gear. You get some pretty funny looks.

    Re: Dear scooter rider

    Dear scooter rider,
it really aggravates the shit out of me that even though you are on a registered motor vehicle and riding on a road with a speed limit of 40 mph or below and even though your scooter will easily do the speed limit or more you still feel it necessary to ride on the shoulder or the breakdown lane like youre on a bicycle. if youre too scared to ride in traffic then ride the fucking bus.

    dear motorist,
that scooter that you just drove around that was doing 5+ over the speed limit is a registered vehicle. this is easily identified by the license plate on the back. it is NOT ok to pass them within their own lane.

I've been getting my chuckles tossing a waive at scooter gangs lately. I swear 1 in 3 looks at my hand and then looks like they are about to drop the damned things. Wouldn't surprise me that if you laid on the horn they'd wipe out right in front of you.
