That's kind of a big point right there that you have to keep in mind, you'll probably never find any other bike on the market in the 600 class that comes close to the same level of long distance comfort as a ZZR. That's part of what made that generation of ZX-6R special.

The Daytona 675 is literally going to be at the opposite end of that, ergonomics wise. In all honestly, I'd say an '07-'09 Yamaha R6S might be a pretty decent alternative...it's aggressive without being too uncomfortable. But no other Ninja (600 or 636) is going to be the same as what you're used to, especially considering the type of mileage you're talking about running off.

If you were willing to try other brands besides what you mentioned, the '07+ CBR600RR has also been highly regarded in terms of ergonomics. Or, like bergs mentioned, the VFR is always a solid choice.

The Street Triple R will give you both performance and comfort. You will have the same engine, frame, suspension and brakes as the Daytona 675 but with the comfort that you are looking for. Swing by my shop and check one out.

I wanted to suggest this, but he seemed way more interested in the fully faired offerings. Otherwise I would definitely side with you and bergs about looking at standard or UJM bikes.

+1 for the 07+ CBR600. Honda has always been know for its reliability, durability, solid performance, and ergonomics. Plus its a sweet looking ride. Maybe Eric will come in and post up a picture of his.

That thing has a freaking bench seat on it my GOD it's huge. The only thing more comforatble would be a 76 caprice classic where you float not drive.

In all seriousness i'll pop off 300+ miles in an afternoon and feel good about it, ass not sore.

YEah... new bikes are nice but the Used market just has too many "Holy Shit" deals out there to really think new iIMO/
I mean a low mileage 08 848 you could get for 8500 cash.

And that kinda deal seems to be the rule not the exception to whats for sale out there right now. On all brands of bikes

Re: Ahh to many choices!! new bike time

Ya i just checked out some of the newer bikes at the dealership and now i'm thinking used

Found an 05 636 with 3k on it going for 5K . . .i've been keeping an eye on it for a while and am liking that deal, only thing i have against it is the color isnt my favorite lol

I've never liked the Honda's seating position it makes me slide forward into the tank,

I do really like the ergo's and looks of the street triple and other naked bikes but i just need some form of wind protection due to long slabs

Can any of you guys comment on how the wind gets on naked bikes like the street triple at highway speeds, i sat on a few of that kinda bike and really like the seating position just worried i'd be aggravated by the lack of wind protection

I know Triumph makes a really good looking flyscreen accessory and some body-color radiator side mounts for the Street Triple (ask a dealer, or go to the Triumph website), that would alleviate quite a bit of the buffeting, but there would still be some noticeable force. From my experience on naked bikes, the strongest wind I've felt was on an 1125CR at about 85mph on a highway...but even that wasn't enough to get scary. It might be loud (depending on your helmet), but it won't kill you. Sometimes the extra buffeting will take the weight off of your wrists, too (depending on how aggressive the rider triangle is).

Given the style of bike such as the Street Trip, I would imagine it will wear on you at some point.

If you know you will be spending 30+% of your time on the slab I'd look elsewhere, in my opinion it's not much fun having to constantly fight the wind. not just the head wind, sitting way up/out in the open on the Hyper I catch some pretty nasty side gusts in my upper body on the slab. Can you do 8-10k slab miles a year on a naked bike, of course you can. You can also catch a fish with your bare hands, but if you have a choice why not use a net

Just my $0.02 cents, there will be 20 other posts saying "I've done 20,000 miles on naked bikes!" But if you want wind protection and a more comfortable ride I'd keep looking. I'm currently looking to add a fully faired bike to the collection just for slab trips, thinking BMW....

but if you want a naked Kawasaki check out scotties ZRX in the for sale forum

I've got to put this out there, although outdated the yzf600r is absolutely fantastic. Its super comfy, has decent low band torque and gets 55-60 mpg. That being said its not super powerful, 100 at the crank. I've got one and have 33k on it and will easily take it on 20+ hour trips. I'm currently looking to add another bike to the stable but am debating between getting a liter for long tracks or sticking with a 636 or gsxr 750 or 600rr/f4i.

Re: Ahh to many choices!! new bike time

ya the 600r is ok but a little to touring for me, the 08 zzr was a good mix but i'm thinking about going a little more supersport

Thanks for the input on the wind, i think i'll stick to fully faired bikes for now.

I think i've got it down between 2

09 Zx-6r (awesome styling, decent seating position, rave reviews for all who have riden them so far)

06 636 way cheaper and still a good bike bit more comfort and awesome looking

kinda leaning more towards the 09. . . only time will tell

The 09 zx-6r is supposed to be crazy as all hell. Great power and all around a great bike. If i remember correctly it won the 09 600 shootout.
