Just wondering what I should get for the track next year, probably doing a few trackdays I have Honda Factory Racing Replica Jacket at the moment and wondering if i should get the legs that zip together or go with full 1pc. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with a 2pc coming apart.

I raced in a 2 piece for a bit before getting a full 1 pc... and I know a few guys who still race in 2 piece suits.

Some say there's a chance of them coming apart at the zippers, but I personally have never seen it or heard of it happening.

If you want the ultimate in protection and don't mind sacrificing walking comfort & convenience, get a 1 pc.... But my personal opinion is that the only SIGNIFICANT difference between the two styles is convenience and versatility... a 2pc is more convenient to get in & out of and more comfortable to walk around in, making it my pick for street & occasional track use.


For you, it sounds like you're just looking to be an occasional track day rider & you already have what sounds to be a proper jacket... thus, I say buy some pants to complete the wardrobe... But if you've got some bucks to spare & want a 1 pc, then that's fine, too.

Search around - craigslist, eBay, the FS forums here... Sometimes you can find a used (or even new) 1pc for cheap, if that's what you're looking for. If you do just get a pair of zippable pants, be sure to get ones with knee pucks, or at least velcro, since you're planning on TDs.

I wear my 2 piece leathers almost daily in the warmer months. You can't go wrong with them.

It's not too likely that you'll find some track pants, but you can find some siiiiick deals on some other used gear on there. I got myself a lightly rashed 1200 dollar Dainese suit & back protector for 350 shipped! I see boots & gloves on there all the time, too.

i agree to keep your eyes on wera and here. i picked up my 1 piece almost new teknic for 200 shipped from a member here. the rest of my gear was all bought slightly used or brand new on wera for way below new price.

If you get the legs that zip together won't that make it hard to straddle your bike? Or you planning to ride side saddle?

As others have said.... look around. I got my Vanson leathers (1pce) in my size on ebay. Paid $385 for $1200 leathers! and they are in great shape. Got my Sidi boots off WERA for $100 (375 new) and my Tiachi gloves new on close out at 40% off.

I knew my sizes and looked all winter last year. I ended up with some good shit for not alot of coin. of course nothing matches... but I'm not gay like that.... not that there is anything wrong with that.
