There but for the grace......
Sickening. RIP to the fallen officer.
same thing happened in n.h last year. 21 y.o cop stopped at a stop sign.
a friend of mine posted this on her facebook status. if anyone is interested you can make donations to the family.
Late Friday night, PJ Johnson, a Lowell Massachusetts police officer was killed by a drunk driver when he was off duty. He leaves behind a wife a 3 year old and an infant. If you and 100 of your Facebook friends donated $5 each you collectively would raise $500. (To donate: Lowell Firefighters Credit Union at 642 Chelmsford Street Lowell, MA 01851 under "Johnson Family Fund".)
nine times out of ten its an electric razor, but...every once in a while...its a dildo. of course its company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo, we have to use the indefinite article "a" dildo ...and not..."your"...dildo...
I didn't know PJ, but am friends with his wife Lindsey. She's taking it very hard and hasn't been able to tell their 3 year old yet. Your thoughts are definitely appreciated.

RIP
Sorry to hear the bike got wrecked, as for the cop he should have picked up on the drunk driver or been paying better attention. I mean isn't that what they are trying to prevent?![]()
Did you read the fucking article? Extremely disrespectful post.
"Authorities allege the 26-year-old Chan was drunk when he ran a stop sign and struck a motorcycle being operated by six-year police department veteran Patrick Johnson."
Should have picked up on the drunk driver? Was he supposed to know the driver was drunk and not going to stop for the stop sign prior to entering the intersection?
The officer got hit was in no way at fault here and the fact that you are implying he is to blame for his own death is simply fucking retarded. Get a brain asshole.
all the best to the family. two young kids left behind... damn shame. totally preventable too, that is the tragedy
ban me if need be, but are you a fucking retard? you honestly think the cop who was riding in an intersection and a drunk driver went through a stop sign and hit him should of known? there is only so much "paying attention" motorcycle riders can do before they eventually have to continue on riding while there rolling off a light/stop sign or in an intersection or merging

no, they try to stop drunk drivers to prevent situations like this.
in my experience, drunk drivers often forget to turn on the huge flashing "I'M DRIVING DRUNK" lights on the front, back and sides of their vehicle that help make them quickly identifiable to nearby motorists. unfortunately, this means it often takes even the most experienced of officers more than 2-3 seconds to identify, especially when they approach from the front or side.
as far as this incident goes - since you clearly have no idea what happened here - i'll explain it with more detail. the drunk driver was approaching princeton blvd from foster st when he ran the stop sign and struck the motorcycle. there was no stop sign for the motorcycle entering the intersection via princeton blvd, nor could he have seen an approaching vehicle on foster until the last second due to the close street proximity of the houses and bushes on each side.
take a look at the intersection on google maps and you decide how much warning he had. the view shown is from the motorcyclists point of view. foster street enters just ahead from the side.

If anyone is interested my cousin's band will be playing a show at Maxamillians in Tyngsborough to raise money for PJ's family. They are donating their pay, as well as setting up jars for donations. Show starts around 9. If you are looking for more info they are on Facebook as Totally Inappropriate.
There will also be a much larger benefit in November:
