No wonder so many racers die in this one.

TT: Closer to the Edge........a must have DVD! The tid bits and facts alone that they throw out in the movie is amazing. Like, it takes 3 years of practice just to get at qualifying pace.

Id love to attend that race one day.. but I feel events like that you actually miss out if you are there because you see only one part of the entire race.
When i watch WRC and the Acropolis Rally in Greece it was one of the most exciting things I ever attended but it got kinda boring after a few passes because we could only see two corners from where we were seating.. cant really compalin though to see some of the best drivers and cars in person

Back in the mid 80's when I first got into bikes I used to think the GP racers were crazy mofo's,until I seen the Isle races..These guys are truly insane.

Riding Man by Mark Gardiner
Definitely a recommended read. Talks about racing up at Loudon too.

I want to find the video someone posted of those crazy guys with sidecars doing a moto cross race somewhere in the ukrane. They were doing jumps and had a full race line start of all contestants. Can anyone send the link? That is the only video that was crazer than the Isle of Man.

it doesnt take three years to get to qualifying pace but if i understand correctly, you have to apply to participate, look up brandon cretu on wera, he races it.
Thanks for the link. Great footage. I just saw the TT3D: Closer to the Edge movie two weeks ago. A must see and can't wait to find it on DVD.

Just saw "Closer to the Edge" over the weekend. Awesome. And Guy Martin is hilarious as always.

sorry
Hi Mark, I see in your sig line info on 2012 Bennington Bash. I went for the first time last year and had a blast. Can't wait for 2012 and hopefully will have a Triumph by then too.
In case you were at the banquet, I was the girl who's arm was the measuring point for raffle tix..... that was certainly amusing!
now back on topic... where did you see the movie? local? I've been trying to find it to buy in DVD, but it's only coming from the UK now as far as I can tell.

goddamn @ 1:30 my jaw DROPPED TO THE FLOOR
Isle of Man TT will definitely make a man out of you. that is by far the craziest thing i saw about the TT.
Ah, cool! I'm one of the organizers of the BTB, so yeah, I was at the banquet, running around assigning people things like raffle ticket sales.Glad you had a good time!
A friend of mine ordered the DVD from the UK. We watched it at my house Saturday night.now back on topic... where did you see the movie? local? I've been trying to find it to buy in DVD, but it's only coming from the UK now as far as I can tell.
That was Conor Cummins during the Senior TT. That crash is covered in "Closer to the Edge," along with the aftermath. Guy Martin's crash during the Senior TT was thoroughly spectacular as well, but I can't find video of it online. Here's a photo though:
