haha, im amazed at the knowledge in this thread... I guess Ducati's and Gixxahs do rule the world b/c Moto Guzzi started the SSS craze WAY back in the 40's followed by Honda & BMW THEN Ducati... Oh yeah, triumph has also used this purely Italian idea... oh.. and I guess suzuki was the first to start placing the exhaust down low on the bike to more centralize the mass on the bike...
back on topic I commend any company coming to bat using that boat anchor of a porsche motor that Harley uses in the VROD

Whomever designed the bike is a hack, pieced together with elements from a thousand things we've seen before, with nothing original about it save for a blown V-Rod motor.
WTF ever, I'd take a Motoczysz C-1 over that piece of crap any day.
Even though I doubt the C-1 will ever be a "US GP bike," it reportedly has the best front end feel ever (from those who have test ridden it, some very respected names), and at least it's original... not a hack-together adventure in amateurish styling.
and BMW and Honda isn't? I'm just saying do a little research before you say something is a Ducati thing... yes I know Ducati is god...
too bad that floor isnt really mirrored
and HD would like you to think that porshe or german engineers helped them come up with the revolutionary V rod motor but its actually a Jap clone/replica.
someone who really knows told/showed me this.

way to back-pedal, kid. Real smooth
The first thing you said was that it was a Ducati rip-off... In that case, the fact that your membership here means you're ripping off everyone who's joined here before... and your name is Tom... so you must be ripping off all the other Toms, too. I know a couple of Toms, I'll have to let them know.
But whatever... I do agree that it is pretty Duc/MV-esque... shit, I'll even say the side radiators are reminiscent of the RC51. But how many COMPLETELY ORIGINAL new designs come from anything other than the Japanese 4, UK or Italy (other than Buell & Motoczysz)? Not many.
As for the bike, I don't think there's a single person here that can accurately judge what that bike can & can't do. I hope it does well, but w/ that v-rod lump... I'm pretty skeptical about the engine's potential as anything other than a drag-racer, which the rest of the bike obviously isn't designed to do.
I do find the location of the countershaft sprocket & engine interesting... look how high & close to the swingarm pivot they got it. That thing is awfully up & back.
As for the Buell comments... Getting a Rotax lump in the 1125R is the best thing Eric Buell has ever done (asside from his pretty impressive chassis designs). Now if he can just split all his ties w/ HD he'll be able to turn out some REAL bikes.... I think the 1125R is just the beginning.

I would have to agree, while the idea may not be a ducati/mv first, the over all execution of it is very ducati/mv like.

Indeed. It is unusual for original designs to come from anywhere other than the places they usually come from.
Also spot on. Aside from the other things he did, this was the most impressive thing he did.As for the Buell comments... Getting a Rotax lump in the 1125R is the best thing Eric Buell has ever done (asside from his pretty impressive chassis designs).
The irrefutability of this logic is simply unable to be refuted.![]()
wait wait, mine has side radiators too... and even two of them... does that mean my bike is ripping off honda? damn it.... how many sportbikes have a belt? might be a grenade waiting to go off, but atleast its original
VFR from a few years back?
A couple of BMW bikes...
Wow, someone assembled an expensive superbike. They took an existing motor and bolted off the shelf parts to it. They made a frame and wired up a bunch of crap to it.
It's a dumb heavy motor to make a bike out of.
Sport bike design orthodoxy is so narrow that, really, a Ducati, a Suzuki and a Honda all look alike unless you are some kind of fiend and spend all your time looking at them and thinking about them.
It would be nice to see Bombadier, parent company of Rotex and maker of corporate jets and snowmobiles make a real North American sportbike. This thing is nothing.
What's American? Its garbage engine and frame, nothing else. Swedish shocks, Italian brakes, I bet the electronics and many other parts are from Asia. So, BFD, a couple of engine castings and a frame that's standard operating procedure.
Me: "Normal people wouldn't do this."
Peter: "First you have to operationalize with normal is."

Sorry Oxx everything I have heard about that VRSC motor is that it was developed by HD and Porsche engineers similar to how the Rotax motor was built by BRP with Buells Specs... not saying your wrong b/c I, MYSELF, am not sure about the origins of the Vrods motor... all i know is it makes like 120hp and is heavy...
