Coming from a truck to an SUV, you may need a weight distributing hitch to deal with the tongue weight due to generally softer rear springs on the SUV. My Durango can only handle 350 lbs of tongue weight without the WD hitch. With it, it handles 800+ lbs easily.

    I've got an Avalanche with 22s and I've towed a 6.5' x 12' trailer with no problem.

There should be a 'trailer' switch in the automatic gear shifter. That is supposed to change the gearing for heavier loads so your tranny doesn't heat up. Watch the tranny heat gauge, too.

not sure what rims/tires you have (DEUCE DEUCE) but those actually determine how much of a load you should safely carry as well. Whatever the manual says for towing/loading is on the stock load range tires/wheels. But if its a new one then they come stock with 22s right?
Either way I hope the whole setup is on airbags and you let it drop when you get in the parking lot

*and ya like above, turn overdrive off and watch the shifting/temp

You will have no problem towing that trailer. Just hook it up and go.
