2005 gsxr 1000 gel seat
Uses same base pan.... too small
Seems to have 1 inch of too soft (foam?) stuff over
the too hard base filler. It colapses totally and your on
the hard stuff like a stocker.
The soft stuff does make your but sweat more though
There is "Stitching" on the upper surface that let water
into the open cell sponge under the cover. Now a little burble of water come out when you sit to wet your ass.
Have not seen this mistake sinse the 70's
Corbin has an aftermarket seat with their "rocker design" for $240 but when I asked what if I don't like it and what is the return policy they said "there is no return policy they would fix the problems..."
Well i am backed to making my own over the winter

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the corbin. Yes it's hard spending that much on a seat but if they weren't worth it then I think Corbin would be out of business by now. Try and pick one up on ebay, thats what I did and loved mine.
Gel seats do suck.

I have a used Corbin I bought for the VFR...
Try before you buy... Corbins leather finish is next to useless if you wear Cordura pants. It is like sitting on ice, you cannot stay in place under hard acceleration & braking.
They had NO idea WTF I was talking about when I called and asked if there was anything I could do to make the seat more grippy. "Wow is your bike really fast?" I'm talking like 1/2 throttle acceleration in any gear and I'd slide all the way to the back of the seat unless I was pressing my legs against the tank really hard. It made it quite hard to hang off, etc.. and I can only imagine how nasty it would be on a really fast bike.
The SV Gel seat I tried was just like the GSXR seat... it would also get really really hot in the sun, especially after it had absorbed some water.
