Looks very well engineered.

I can't stop from starring and marveling...
But all those heim joints and extra chain sections add to maintainence concerns. Especially riding dirty. And the geometry changes with the wheel further out. Seems like it wouldn't really provide enough benifit? I don't dirt bike (yet), but is front wheel traction a problem, and does the front wheel have enough to be meaningful? Seems to me that when you're losing rear wheel traction, the front wouldn't have any weight on it.

Being an avid New England trail rider for many years, my take on any FWD system is that, in the gnarly sections (none of the clips on that site come close to truly gnarly stuff we encounter here - those guys were deliberately trying to goof up) a FWD system would be fantastic...but, the rest of the time there is a "heavy" price to be paid. The weight increase, and change in distribution, is significant, and would not be tolerated or appreciated by most of us. A Trials bike, or something like the new Ossa Explorer would be a better approach.
Stuck is stuck. It is hard enough pulling a regular bike out of a hole. That one would probably stay there until help arrived. The mechanical complexity and additional maintenance is just icing on the cake, or the chain on the anchor.
yep, the advantage/fun of a dirt bike is its simplicity...watch any video with any pro rider and they do some physics defying riding with 1wd
and dirt bike riding also has a LOT to do with the rider...
still cool nonetheless...pretty tough to make at home!

Looks like 50+ year old Rokon technology to me
why not something at least 20 years more modern like Drysdale 2x2x2 hydraulic drive technology

ive plenty of AWD systems that work just as good if not better and have far less garbage on the front. you wouldnt even know they were awd.
im pretty sure these guys had a bike in the X games http://www.christini.com/

They did, in the enduroX. The cristini is the most widely used system right now (not that it's widely used at all). It'd be a fun toy, but not something I'd make a program out of, I don't think.
If I only raved arena based enduroX, I might sing a different tune.

The cristini is intriguing in that it only operates when it needs to. You can adjust how much fwd you want.

The theory they propose is when you wash the front, the front tire 'stalls' resulting in a slide instead of continuing to turn. With their setup, instead of stalling, it'll slip below 95% of the rear wheel's speed and begin receiving power, which will force it to continue rolling, in theory preventing the slide. It'd like to try it out to see personally.

What the fuck?
A few years ago Yamaha entered a 2WD bike in the Paris-Dakar, the front was driven by a hydraulic motor - not a fucking chain. Obviously it was a factory effort but it was about a million times more thought-out than this one.
