So I have obtained a 636 shock and installed it yesterday.... All I have to say is WOW what a difference. I haven't really had a chance to really test it yesterday, but the short rip I took and like 50 miles of 2 up riding last night confirmed that this is an awesome upgrade.
Well worth the time and money...lol it took me like 10 mintues and was pretty much free.. friends with 636's that like to dump stupid money into it(ohlins)..lol..
But I have seen them go for little over $50 on ebay....well worth it
It handle the bumps a lot better and seems a lot more stable in the corners......
good to know.
Thanks!
This shock will not help Brent's riding ability!![]()

Thats it.
I am starting a list and putting you on it!
CHICKENFUCKER!!!
BA-KAWK!
should just get 636.
question for you 2 z1000 or anyone. the up right position, how do you deal with the win blast at over 100mph? i just can't see myself sitting up right doing that fast and not looking like a waving flag hanging on tomy dear life.![]()
"fuckit!"
first of all, i have a gravity advantage on ya!
up to about 80-90 i can cruise all day, as long as the wind is clear, not turbulent off the back of a car or truck.
i have had it up to... well its been topped out. i just tuck up and hold on tight, and i dont hold that kind of speed for long.

Neat Z1000 feature: the mirrors fold in on their own when you cross somewhere around 125mph.
you can certainly "tuck in" on a standard...maybe not quite like on a bike like yours but it's still possible - at least on my lil Seca it is possible to tuck behind the windscreen and be out of the wind.Originally posted by Kham

not that it goes MUCH over 100mph mind you but that's fine with me.

i remembered riding with Death Metal and his SV at about 35 degree out. i was on a 7R. we were cruising highway around 90mph. the cold made him so uncomfort but didn't bother Joe and me that much.

it isn't too bad up until like 120...the it gets a lil annoying...but even still not that bad..Originally posted by Kham

fwiw - that is another reason I bought the Z...keep the speeds to a semi decent level....feels like you are going faster then you are....
simple matter of weight ratios... put me on one side of a see-saw and you on the other... who will fly first?Originally posted by Kham

My Z-Rex is fine and dandy, just like candy. I commute on the pike and 495 doin 90-95 the entire way without issue or being tired.
Combine that with me being the physical build of a butterfly and you will soon realize it's how you position yourself on a bike that matters most. Bein a heavy person just makes you slower around the track![]()

My Ducati was nicer on highway due to the wind protection, but my wrist, back and hand would rather have the annoyance of wind than the alternative.

I was really surprised at how comfortable Brent's bike was when we swapped a while ago. Despite the lack of windshield, the wind wasn't really a problem for me. All you need it to get a better seat, and it'd be a kickass bike. On the other hand, I'm hanging on for life on my bike after about 80 or so.
The Kawi is still too quiet, though.
Yup.
How long would you spend at 100 plus anyways? I love the wind protection on my FZ1 but even with it I still only hit 100 mph+ for very short periods. The Z1000 kicks butt in my book. Rock on.
I really don't have a problem with the wind. When I hit higher speeds I slip back on my seat and just tuck forward a little toward the tank. Still comfy and out of the wind. Can ride like that for the amount of time I can hold a high rate of speed.
Thanks for the shock tip, will check it out.

I'm with Bad Dog on that one! I got the stubby fairing on my SV and once you hit 80, it's not bad at all. It's that spot between 70 and 80 that's a little rough for me.Originally posted by Bad Dog
