I do plan to ride it, maybe only 2-3 times per year just to keep things fresh. It’s not for sale, and won’t be as long as I am physically able to throw a leg over it.
Thank you to everyone who has commented and complimented along the way, it certainly was helpful keeping the motivation going.
I’m in this bike for just shy of $40k, no regrets and long term will be a great investment.

Re: Bad decisions were made today..

This will likely be a project that never really ends. There were still a few bits and pieces that were missing to make this bike 100% original, and almost free of cosmetic blemishes.

I’ve found all these extra parts and have a rather large box showing up next week.
New old stock (NOS) parts for the majority, some slightly used but perfect condition, and a couple cool aftermarket bits.
    I’ll update once these arrive

Re: Bad decisions were made today..

    First box was delivered today.
New OEM chain guard complete set, new OEM front fender, used OEM ram air block off cover, and finally a used OEM air box top.

    Bad decisions were made today..-img_0131-jpg

Second box should be here tomorrow, that box has a complete new OEM tail section. The tail on my bike has damage on the left side from shipping at some point, it has always bothered me a bit seeing the scrapes.

And the final part showed up safely today, a NOS tail section with the seat pad and undertail.

Most of the original parts, are basically selling for what MSRP would be if they were available, which I feel is pretty fair for 1 year production parts. This latest parts lot was slightly north of $4k.

There’s a guy in South Africa that has 2, one of them is near perfect. Jay Leno also has one, and he keeps his stuff pretty mint.
There are rumors of a couple bikes still in the crates, but I have never seen any truth to it.

Wonder how many left that are still viable. Guessing more than a few wound up being crashed at some point.

Haga crashed a handful of them , and recall seeing quite a few yards sales in AMA Superbike. If I had to guess, there probably less than 50 still around.

Were the ones that Haga was racing and those used in AMA Superbike part of the homologation run or would they have been separate from the 500? Don't know how the homologation rules work so I am genuinely curious.

The race bikes were all included in the 500 total units made. There were supposedly 5 pre-production bikes made for testing that carried a slightly different name, the OWL7 (or close to that), there’s a guy in the UK that either has one, or a bunch of spare parts for one.

All good reasons for you to buy that one listed in the UK and import it.
