I have a 2009 848. It has been a year now and I am interested in getting an exhaust system. I would like to get termis because of the warranty. First of all, I am looking for more of a deeper rather than louder sound; even though a bit louder would also be nice. Are the termis slip-on what I am looking for? Also, I just found out that there are a new set of termis released that are a bit more expensive. Would it be better to get a full system of the old ones or slip ons of the new ones if the price is justified? As of right now, the price for parts and installation for the new slip ons is $1800.
If you get anything else, you'll need an ECU or some other means of adjusting fueling. Best bet for slipons IMO are the Termis. My 848 dyno'd at 123 rwhp with them, DP air fliters and the DP ECU (which comes with them) and I couldn't have been happier with the fueling... and sound.
Yep, Budget for a PCIII as well.
You should be able to instal them yourself.![]()

Another option would be any slip on you like the sound of (youtube has tons of videos that you can check out) and a Tuneboy set up.

I have the full Termi system on my 999, and the sound is spectacular!!! Nice deep throaty sound. When it comes to exhausts for Ducati's; Termi's should be your first thought...they go hand in hand

With the DP ECU a PCIII is overkill IMO, especially if the rest of the motor is stock.
Rob's Dyno can tune the DP ECU directly, alleviating the need for a PCIII.
I personally prefer the look and sound of the Akrapovic carbon exhaust on the new Superbikes better then the Termignoni.

i go akro imo better quality

I have been doing some research into this myself... The DP ecu is the only thing that is needed as to not void the warrantee. you can get any system as long as you run the DP ecu and i have heard that the adding the pc3 afterwards will help but is not necassary.
Ill say go Akra or Zard, both look nice and sound wicked. DP ECU and maybe PCIII later.
Like I said they say, nothing stops a party barge.

DP Ecu... How about for a 998?

On the Duc boards I hear a lot of shit about poor Termi quality.
IMO, go with Zard, Akra or Arrow and a PCIII. More versatility of tuning and if you switch to a full system you can tune off it as needed.

at least i really really hope so.
You can do the same with the DP ECU if you go to a full system down the road. There is no need for a full system on an 848 if you don't have head porting and engine work done. I <3 Akra stuff, but have to say I have loved the Termis I've had on multiple generations of Ducati Superbikes.

You could go a cheaper way if you need too. I picked up a set of 1098s cans which are made by termi anyways. I the cut the cats out and that helped give it a more throaty sound. I'm also toting around with gutting the cans and adding perf pipe and packing to make a set of "slip ons" for a fraction of the price.
Essentially, all the slip ons, termis akras etc, are just glass pack mufflers. They go by ratios of packing material to engine size when they make them. It's easy enough to research.
When did Duc start unlocking their ECUs for external mapping? Or are you guys just talking about playing with the CO2 trim and calling that mapping?
"Unlocking" is not the way to think about it. The DP ECU's have mostly (as far as I know) been able to be tuned with the right tool (that typically only dealers have, and many don't even bother investing in them). I'm not talking about CO2 trim alone. Call / ask Rob what he can do, or Gido at Eastern.
