Since I haven't been on the track yet, if I had the money I would prefer to do so first on a bike I wouldn't mind banging up a bit.
Not to get too far off topic, but your first track day should be nothing more than a street ride... just w/ 1000 times the fun factor.Ride within your limits & crashing shouldn't be an issue.
of course I say that but there's always 10 or so people that do crash

I always had the attitude to bring the bike to the track - i didnt want to crash my spanking new R6 but i still think its cheaper to repair it then buy another bike AND thats what that bike was made to do!!!! Way more fun to be on a capable bike rather than a beater
