Can anyone shed some light on this? Looks like I lost a few chunks of tire @ Jersey. They're the Michelin Power One's. "B" compound, mfg date Nov. 2008. 2 practice sessions and 1 race @ Summit. Then one week later 2 full trackdays @ Jersey, back to back. Had the warmers on them throughout all of those days. Is there something I'm doing to cause this? Rider input error? Suspension not dialed in correctly? Or could this be a defective tire?

That's a lot of use out of a race tire. Its not unusual to see that. Its not delamination or anything.

Yes, a couple of times. Can't remember what brand though. I think any tire could do that probably. Looks like a combination of end-of-life, too much time at high temp, riding style and suspension or any one of those factors. Paging karayaone to a white courtesy phone. I would very highly doubt it is warrantyable. Too much use on the tires.

It really isn't all that uncommon. I want to say it has something to do with time spent at high temps and heat cycles, but I'm not sure of the exact cause.

You should see the half in deep 1.5" chunks missing from a tire at Daytona

Wishful thinking, but I wouldn't expect this to be something that's warrantied. After all, aside from the gouges the tires worked really well, hooked up in the corners pretty good and yes, it was hotter than hell the days I ran them (90+ degrees).

FYI, this happened @ Jersey's Lightning course. Never imagined a newer track could be that harsh on tires. But as some of you mentioned, it's probably suspension that's the bigger factor.
