So I'm either a huge pussy, or retarded. I cannot for the life of me, get my ninja up on its center stand. I want to do some chain maintenance, and it seems to be the easiest clutching it out to spin the tire. I'm a little gal so it's a lil scary tugging on the bike to try to get the thing up, is there a particular method I may not be applying here?![]()

I just yank on it and it comes up fine. :-P
DON'T use that brush with the bike running!!!! The only thing you do with it running is spray the lube on. It is very dangerous and people have lost fingers cleaning chains. I can show you on Sunday.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
So... Stand on the left side of the bike. Left hand on the handle bar and right hand on the tail/grabrail/ footpeg, whatever you can get a handle on.
Step on the centerstand tab and rock it back onto it pulling with the left and pushing with the right.

I was talking about the chain part. I know you're smaller than me... and happy about it.

That's how it says to do it with the Ninja 250. Once you stand on the centerstand foot peg, holding it on the ground, it will balance the bike while you pull it up onto the stand.
Do as Doc said, it's pretty easy as long as you have both centerstand pegs on the ground.

Meet me for lunch tomorrow or Friday. We're overdue anyway, and I'll show ya how to throw it up on the centerstand. As Alex said, keep ya fingers away from the chain while it's running. Actually, I've got chain lube & pavement in g'town, you could swing by there some night (lemme know which so I'm there) for an all inclusive lesson.
Carla, do what Doc says. use your 90lbs to put pressure on the center stand with your foot, you don't need to 'muscle' it . You'll get the technic.
Yup, you'll be surprised how easy the bike comes up, you need to use the leverage of the center stand to get the bike up. Once you do it once you'll never have an issue with it again.
Yes like everyone says, use your foot for strength, not your arm.

Concentrate on pushing down with your foot, not pulling up with your arm(s). Sounds like it would not make a bit of difference, but it does.
Make sure the bike is in Neutral....otherwise it take 3 men and a boy...

Don`t try any of this advice on a hill.
I'm good any day/night this or next week. This w/e is jammed, but for lunch or nights on a workday I'm in whenever. Lemme know, you know where to find me. </threadjack> Also, if you're visiting the 'rents and I'm around I can teach you on my CB. It's about 19% heavier than your ninjette and I'm sure you can do it on that, once you learn it's easy peasy.
I'm not a girl, but I have the physique of one. On My VFR, I'll hold the centerstand down with my foot and pull BACK one the passenger and rider footpegs. No hands on the bars.
