I want to have my VFR shipped from MA to San Diego and arrive on 7/8. I spoke with Haulbikes this morning and was told that their current times were at least 28 days and that it was already too late to get it there on time.
Any and all suggestions for alternatives would be appreciated.
The only restriction is that I do not want to empty the bike of fluids for the trip.
I'd like to know this info as well. Like who can do it, how long and how much. I may need to ship mine to Dallas.
It's not Door-To-Door but I had great luck with Forward Air. You are supposed to drain the fuel (which I did), but they didn't even check, to be honest. I would just deliver it with low fuel.
Your bike would likely fit the Medium container without a problem; my drz400 on dirt wheels (tall!) fit fine w/o mirrors; but I would bring tools in case you have to pop the windscreen and mirrors off.
4 days and 550$ to Denver, and pretty easy - loaded it into the container at their facility in Everett, and it was on it's way.

Forward Air. Or Fedex dock to dock.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I used STI to ship my VFR out to San Diego last year, it was $600 (each way), took 2 1/2 weeks. It was not door to door though. I dropped the bike off at the terminal in Lowell and picked up at the terminal in Poway, about 20 min. northeast of downtown San Diego. I also found out that STI does the hauling for many of the other carriers advertised on line. I had no issues, bike arrived with no problems and made it back with no problems. I did not have to drain any fluids or gas.

Good to know. I rented a bike in SF from Dubbeljou(sp?), but renting is always expensive. BTW, your bike looks very similar to mine. Only difference I see is that I have an MRA Vario screen and a V46 toprack instead. ;-) I am planning on going on a ride to Canada for a few days around June 18th - cheapest entertainment is to use your own bike.
Day's 1 -3 are all in cali, up the coast all the way.
Must be nice to ride in cali. Last time I was there, we took a bus from LA to SF. Beautiful scenery along the way.
I had good luck with Keyboard. http://www.keyboardmotorcycleshipping.com/. Took about 3 weeks, price seemed pretty reasonable.

All set! Used uShip, got a few bids, spoke to the Owner of Kytte's Transport and booked today.
Barring any unforseen crap, the San Diego to Boston "rideabout" is good to go.

Let us know how you make out with Kytte's, for future reference......have a blast on your trip and stay safe!

Well, they picked up the bike Wednesday, so all I can do at this point is hope it shows up in San Diego as promised.
CRAP !!!!!
Kytte's has gone tits up and Uship has been dealing with it all day. I "should" get the bike back in a day or 2, but now I'm in a panic to find another shipper....
Rebooked through freightcenter, using STI. Bike back tomorrow, heading out again Monday
I vaguely remember STI being my carrier as well, it should be there in no time.
I'm working 22 days straight, and my rear tire is flat...but I'll likely be working near ortega highway on one of the days, and if I can get some stands, I'll get my tire swapped
when will you be in OC? I've only ridden a couple good roads, but we can ride together.
Bike arrives on 7/7 and I'm headed north that day.
Good luck, check out Four Corners and Alice's in LaHonda..That used to be my riding area when I lived out there. No roads can come close to what you find there.
are you sure about that date?
when I shipped to santa fe, the facility was closed on the weekends, so I picked it up on a Monday
I'll get going on those tires...I'm working 7/7, but maybe we could hook up for some riding before or after
