An original 1995 Ducati 916, built in the old factory!
I remember working at a gas station when I was younger and one of these pulled in...I had to talk to the guy. I asked about it..he said it was not a good streetbike. I was floored!! NOT A GOOD STREETBIKE!! He didnt deserve that bike, I thought....
I vowed that day I would own one. Ive had 6 Italian bikes now, but this original 916 eludes me. Someday...

Look on the bright side, if you had bought one prior to now she'd have half!
I think a lot of us have "that bike", the one that started the madness. For me it was a late 80s FZR1000 (I think, although it may have been a 750). A kid pulled into the parking lot at my college on one of them, and I lost my mind.
88 GSXR750 in the red white black color scheme. Something about it caught my fancy.

There wasn't any singular bike for me. I lived 5 minutes from Hudson Cycle Center and took my first job there. It's in my blood.

For it's time.. that is awesome.. futuristic..
For me, it was the first yzf r6
There is one in my garage. A 916 that is. It's a cagiva 916 (early). It will be for sale soon. Watch this space.
This is the one that did it for me. My uncle owned one, said he couldn't take it out of 3rd gear around town or he would foul plugs.
I was 12 I think and it was a whole lot sexier then my Honda trail 50
mine was a dirtbike...saw those poppin' out of the woods at soccer games, cut across parking lots, then hop back in and rrrrring-braaaaap away!
don't think I remember my first street bike...maybe JohnnyV's ninja 250?

By far my favorite looking bike ever built. I owned one for a year or two and unfortunately found that I agree with the guy from the gas station. It was an amazing bike to look at, wax, and show off but of all the bikes I have owned in my life it was the worst to ride on the street. It's a race bike and it hates anything but being flogged and having its neck rung lol. But yes it is unbelievably gorgeous to look at.
I never gave motorcycles a thought other than to argue with my buddy that cars are faster and safer. Then he got one of these, and I would make fun of him for having a purple bike. He took me for a ride one time, and then it all made sense.

First time I saw a Ducati was in a movie called fled, I was 12. There was a chase scene with two 916's most beautiful thing had ever seen. I had to have one one day. Ten years later in 2006 I bought my first bike/ monster s2r 800

i always had an interest for bikes. my dad had a V65 Magna that he would take me for rides on.
i always thought i wanted something like that magna. i had a few friends in HS that had sportbikes. sportbikes were stupid.
when i decided to go to MMI thats when it really took hold.
bought my first bike in 1998 (i think). 1997 CBR 600 F3.
always wanted a smokin joes though
i almost died a thousand times on it because i had no idea what i was doing. they delivered it to my house and i rode it to school. never been a bike before but i figured it out. i ended up totaling that bike. man i remember how fast that bike was. now my KTM makes as much HP as that thing did and probably weighs 100lbs less![]()

Kid across the street had a z50...I wasn't allowed to have a bike, but I could sneak rides on his. Then he moved up to a brand new shiny xr75...that thing was sweet and when he'd let me ride it I'd flog it the best I could at age 12 or whatever, with no riding experience. Parents wouldn't budge on helping me get one, and I remember having the shiny brochure and drooling over it for hours, memorizing all the specs. I had paper routes and did yard work for money but couldn't afford a bike...finally at 14 I spent a whole summer under the nets working tobacco. That job SUCKED and so did my first motorcycle bought with the proceeds, but I loved finally having a bike (it was a beat up, used, loud as hell TM 125 with a sticking throttle and malfunctioning kill switch LOL). I've always owned at least one bike ever since...think there's 6 or 7 around here now.
I drooled over the 916 too...I think when Kocinski rode one?
At ten years old I got a new1974 Honda Elsinore MR50. Two stroke three speed with a clutch. Had someone make a low ball bid on one for me this year at the Razee auction but as expected didn't get it. Great times thought. Smell of premix hooked me forever.
