Honda RC 51
Ducati S4R
Aprilia RSV 1000R
MV Agusta Brutale S
i vote for the aprilia![]()
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.
I thought that a few more shots of the MV might help since there aren't too many around, I would assume that not too many people have seen them in person.

not really. Just trying to do the bike justice. I figured that everyone has seen all of the other bikes in person, so I was merely showcasing the lesser seen bike. It really is beautiful though, isn't it?Originally posted by Jankster

If the Brutale had a twin, I bet it'd make the decision so much easier...
Yeah tell me about it. I would buy it in a second.Originally posted by Tarmac

I like my S4 a lot although I haven't ridden too many different bikes in the last few years. The S4R has a few cosmetics I don't like(funky looking SSS, double side pipes & CC), but I bet the performance as a street bike is great....but I don't need to tell you about Ducati fanaticism...nothing practical/logical about it.
I am of course biased..So obviously I vote Aprilia 1 because its an Aprilia 2 because its a twin... but the MV does look great.. If I were a 4 cyl guy I would def. have one of those in the stable.
I did have the rare opportunity to see one not long ago up at the Vanilla Bean. Another rider and I were there waiting to head out when a guy in his 50's or so pulled in on one. My buddy and I walked over to check it out. Rik was pointing out what he knew about the bike and whatnot and the owner up and offered him to take it out for a ride! Our jaws hit the deck! How often do ya get to see one, much less have someone offer 2 total strangers to take it out for a spin?! He said "it's insured". Just had to keep it under 9k RPM as it wasn't even out of break-in mileage! How cool, is that?

It's funny because everything you dislike about the MS4R is what I like most about the bike. The world would be a boring place if everyone liked the same exact things. But to be honest, the Ducati is at the bottom of my personal want list right now though. It's a beautiful bike, but I can't stomach the service intervals and associated expenses of any Ducati right now. I've already owned and ridden a Ducati, so the honeymoon is over so-to-speak. I see any Ducati for what it really is now, which is a beautiful but high maintenance and temperamental motorcycle.Originally posted by Tarmac

Well it looks like everyone who wanted to vote has voted and I'm surprised to see that the RSV is still at the top. I more than likely will not be purchasing the Aprilia though. I'd actually rather ride an RC 51 if I decide to go with a twin because it is cheaper, easier to obtain, requires less valve maintenance, and Honda will not be going through any sort of bankruptcy anytime soon unlike Aprilia.
As of now I have crossed the Ducati and Aprilia off my list, and since I have decided that I still want a sport bike/super bike, I think I will cross the MV off the list as well. I will still try to get a test ride on all of these bikes if at all possible, so my feelings may change, and I only hope that I get a bike soon so that I can get off of all of these forum sites and get back on the road. Thanks everyone for the input and responses. I promise I will not bother you guys anymore until I get a new bike. I will be sure to post my decision along with pics of my new bike when I get it. Wish me luck.
I hear ya. I've been trimming back my riding lately 'cause I'm in need of valve-adjustment and don't feel like paying that cash out....WTF? June, and I'm trimming back? I dig the bike, but it ain't cheap.Originally posted by A996S

If you go to your service dept. and request that they ONLY do the valves, it should only cost around 100 bucks. They bilk you for crap like adjusting the chain, inspecting the brakes, blah, blah, blah if you just get the regular service...
Do that stuff yourself and save serious bucks
Once you go with twins you never go back.......You should know that by now since it seems you've been ridding your twins for awhile.![]()
It seems that way, doesn't it? I just went to look at a few inlines, and it seems that I just can't bring myself to purchase one. It looks like I'm back to looking at the RC51 and the Monster S4R. I just have to figure out which style would fit me. If I could find one, I actually wouldn't mind picking up a slightly used Duc 998 mono tail.Originally posted by DucRula

I can't say enough amazing things about the RC51. First twin, and first liter so I dont have a lot to compare it to, but I love it![]()

Thats a nice bike you've got there, and by the looks of it, you had a pretty nice ride. Where did you ride? MA?
I was just up at one of my local Honda dealers and found some leftover 2003 RC51's for $9,808. Not a bad deal since the only change in 04 was the additional decals, different frame finish, and slightly different colors.
