I have the competition werks fender eliminator on the 929.It has the stock blinkers and 2 bulbs to light up the plate.
Riding home yesterday. The Fuzz points me over at the entrance to the HOV lane. "I've been meaning to pull you over" Huhhh."I can't see your license plate." What do you mean is right there! I stepped back some 20' kneeled down and mentioned that I can read the #'s and letters. "Can you bend it down?" I showed him and the whole bike started to move. "Don’t worry. Don’t damage anything.” Sorry, no I can not. The brackets are cut welded and bent to the form. The reason why I purchased that setup was that it is DOT approved and it retains the stock blinkers. (OK A little gray on the truth here) This is not like the other set ups like the others that I have seen that put the plate next to the rear shock and is buried. Sorry for throwing you people under the bus.
I've been riding the bike since new, 8 years ago and you are the first one to even mention this. I was not about to mention the other time I was a victim of an individual cop motorcycle sting in Bridgewater and he did not have an issue with it. That guy hated motorcycles. I have even been riding the HOV lane for 8 years now and now this is a problem. "I just wanted to let you know that there may be other that might pull you over for this." Why they have not in 8 years. “I just wanted to let you know that this may be a problem if someone else has an issue. You are fine now.”"Can you have a shop make up something so it is shown better." I'll see what I can do. Don't expect much as this system is all integrated with the locking mechanism for the trunk.
He was cool and everything. But why harass me because I caught your eye some other time. Because YOU could not see my plate. Shouldn’t you be looking out for the individual drivers trying to jump in the HOV. If I had been in the regular traffic this would not have been an issue. I think he was just looking to see if he could ding me on something. I.e. lights out. Sorry fucker everything is in tip top shape. He never ever asked me for paper or a license. Good thing because I left my wallet in my truck for the night before. Yup again. No gas issues this time.

should've told him that when there's a rider on the bike, the angle is less extreme due to suspension compression
still kinda lame, though![]()

I think he was bored and looking for a little conversation. Probably meant well too...
I take these little asides for what they are....little asides! And anytime I have a friendly conversation with a cop...which is usually...I figure that goes in the plus column on the Karma Spreadsheet!!!

Speaking of MSP...
Someone I may or may not know was riding their bike on their way into work at 3:15 am early this morning, minding their own business at an indicated 66-67 MPH (10% optimistic) in a 55 on I-xx south, traveling amidst a couple other vehicles at the time, when in the northbound side of the highway an MSP working a road construction detail flashes the cruiser's lights once, and then proceeds to JACK said rider WITH THE FUCKING SPOTLIGHT.
The state needs more servants like that.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. - John Stuart Mill
i probably would've pulled over, walked back to the officer, and asked for his badge number and proceed to contact his supervisor to discuss his behavior.
those spotlights are FUCKING BRIGHT, not to mention it's still completely dark at 3:15am... i wonder how he'd feel if you made a bee towards the nearest wall after he beamed you

Gino, same thing happened to me going to work 3 weeks ago. I was going under the speeding limit in a big group of traffic. got pulled over because the state trooper couldnt read my plate. now yours is alot more visible than my plate, if you remember seeing it. but never got asked for papers or license. jsut wanted to bust balls and make me late for work.
Geno, get a KLR. You can have the plate completely covered in mud, be doing 108mph (after waiting WOT for a long, long time) in a pop-a-whilly with an illegal milk crate strapped to the back and they just look at you funny as you go speeding by as if to say "Gee, why is there a horse on the highway?".

in a nonway i hope.
the 1st time I got spoken to about my plate was the 1st week i had the bike. was talking on my phone standing next to the bike in a parking lot at nantasket. state trooper drives up and waits next to me to get off the phone. gave me the speech about kids speeding and doing wheelies that hide their plates to avoid getting caught. he wouldnt leave till i bent my plate.
