Just got back from a 60 mile motorcycle ride through Epping, Newmarket, Lee, Durham, Dover, Madbury, Barrington, Northwood, Nottingham and Raymond. Roads are really sandy, and the snow squalls were worrisome, but I had fun. Odd to be able to ride this time of year... Can't recommend riding of dirt roads right now, man they are really slippery on sport tires.
How was the wind?
"WINDS... WEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH."
And don't believe everything you think.
Gusty as hell, but not much of an issue on my route (not that it really matters when you are dressed for riding in February...). I was on very woodsy back roads for the most part, and well sheltered. The tree tops were whipping around wildly though. Strange day.
I was going to post on here this morning to see if anyone wanted to join me, but the site was down. I made a really nice 85 mile (I cut it short when the snow started) twisty loop on MapSource if anyone wants it. The route is not intuitive, and I never would have found it just exploring on my own. Come Spring, it will be an awesome ride. One nice road after another, with little to no traffic, very few numbered routes, and very convenient for south eastern NH folks.
Great. Please do send me your map, I get up thataway often (when it's not snowing).
Thanks,
Kurt

We drove down 395/90 through Worcester yesterday around 2pm and it was near blizzard conditions!
Got your map track. You rode right past my house!![]()
You got most of my local favs. Bennet Road. Durham/Bay road.
Wiswall Rd bites right now, I'm hoping they get off their asses and repave now that they have replaced the temporary army core bridge. But then its been a couple years already now. And that road is straight as an arrow anyway.
Another option would be to stay on Lee Hook, go through 'down town' Lee and take Wednesday Hill back to Packers Falls. Mile or two out of your way, but I like riding Lee Hook. And there are some fun curves at the top of Wednesday Hill.
I might cut out Evans and Pudding Hill roads, go straight for Town Hall/Hayes in Madbury. Although your route lets you go past Bellamy reservoir doing Mill Hill AND Hayes.. which is cool.
Is Evans still dirt? I haven't been out there for a while.
How about Nute? Surely they haven't paved that yet.
You kinda lost me once you get to Barrington.
Evans is paved, Nute is almost completely paved, there's a short stretch of it after it becomes Province, I think, that's very slippery rutted mud right now... Front end of my ZX9R was all over the place in it. A lot of the route was created with trying new (to me) roads in mind. I connected them with roads I love.
I can't figure out how to edit the route. You can't just grab a waypoint and move it, sad to say.
There are some class VI roads north of your loop in Rochester/Barrington/Gonic that I am planning to try on the 'strom. Probably doesn't interest the sport-bike crowd though.
Ditto for Cherry Lane (connects Town Hall in Madbury with Newtown Planes in Barrington). Last time I did Cherry Lane it was on a BMX.![]()
What was your elapsed time for this loop?
it's kinda half assed mud season on dirt roads right now, frozen in morning, lots a ice, later in day, greasy mud, potholes & washboards everywhere
with the mild winter, little snow, mud season should be short this year, deepeds frost I've encountered this year, barely 2 feet when its usually 4 feet, I pounded some stakes yesterday, maybe a foot of frost, heaves are receding
