I want it, and $7899 for a Harley finally seems somewhat reasonable:

Begin the ridicule!

id pony up a few more for a used nightster. while the 883 looks just as good as its bigger brother the nightster, i think you'll be bored, the 883 is pretty under powered. the nightster however, is fun to ride right out of the box.
I doubt I'll get one, but I probably would go for the Nightster if I did. I don't think I'll really like a cruiser. But hey, unlike most brands HD will let you test drive. We'll see![]()
only plus with the 883 is the insurance is cheaper the kit to upgrade it to a 1200 is dirt cheap and makes the cc slightly high then the normal 1200. harley is offering get what you pay for any sportsster. when you buy one years down the road if you trade it in they will give you what you paid.

The nightster has very little cornring clearance last time I looked. IMO - they kind of killed the more sporty feel of the sportster.
While this looks like a price drop, there was a price jump for sportsters in '08. The '04-'06 base level sportster you could get for less then 7k.

That's right, back to a 2 cylinder, 3 cylinder, and a 4 cylinder.
I had a plan like that one time....
Unfortunately, the 1200 has better cams and heads... and you will most likely want to re-gear an 883 (not simple on a sportster). The cost of parts for a true upgrade is much more than the difference in price between 883 and 1200. In addition, the above pictured bike has only a single caliper, you probably want the 1200 with dual front disks. Plus a lot of 883 had problems after upgrading to a 1200.

Too bad it only makes 90 horse.... and is a Harley.... (and is only available overseas?)
