I feel like i`m rebuilding the Zx one part at a time. Went out for a rip and just as I`m pulling in for gas I noticed a grinding noise. I had just passed a road construction area and figured I picked up some stone or other. Checked the front rotors and sure enough I had a nice grove from something. Took the bike home after some more looking around and without using the front brake. Dropped the calipers down and cleaned them out with some brake cleaner. Pads were replaced this season and looked pretty good. While the bike was up I spun the front wheel and it seemed to rub the pads in one area more so I checked the rotors and I can move them around slightly by hand. There is also some small measured variations between the two rotors in various points. I`m thinking the rotors are warped and moving around a bit although I don`t feel it in the brake lever. Don`t know anything about floating rotors but I`m thinking EBC HH sintered pads with new EBC PRO Light rotors will make me feel safe again. Anybody had anything like this happen and what was the outcome?![]()
Rotors move if they float but should not just rattle around loose like
If its just a single groove, just ride the bit*ch
See if the lever pressure is much more than you remember

I`m gonna ride to work tomorrow am. Right now things seem fine except when I`m almost to a complete stop. Then I get funny creaking noises and sometimes a scraping noise. I have new pads but dont want to use them on bad rotors. My problem is I really don`t know how to tell if the rotors are warped . i thought measuring the distance between rotors was a start. I read somewhere in a zx forum that the rotors have a tendency to warp around 30,00 miles so . No fade if they were on a car I was working on I would definitely turn them down a bit on the lathe. Back brakes are fine and look about the same. I wish I knew more about bikes in general. This sucks. I ride fairly spirited most of the time but don`t ever remeber these brakes even fading much.
