please give us an update when you've tested them out
Yeah it won't be till LRRS round 1 next season...
link to ones you got?
I love how people BASH on things made in/from China because inherently it will be of lower quality. Sure if it's a no-name brand you probably should have a closer look at their products, reviews, materials used and such but as a whole it really depends on company selling/making products there and their level of quality control. Hell Alpinestar jackets are made in my mother land of Vietnam but they hold up just as well, I am sure the QC/QA process there is stringent.
People cant wait to hawk at the Chinese, or any other country deem to have a shittier product, but forget to check the companies in charge on whether or not they care about their product or turning a quick buck.
Interested in your findings on the rotors as well!
China has earned that reputation. And brand names on something bought off a random seller on eBay mean nothing in this case. The Chinese, as a nation don't care about outside trademarks, copyrights or patents and will happily clone anything. Sometimes they do well, sometimes it's total shite. Until China as a country starts cleaning up that BS, the rep will stick.
Wait... Free shipping?
This thread has me cracking up.
I wonder where most OEM brake rotors are made? Actually, I don't wonder that, because I know where they are made and it isn't Japan, Italy, UK or Pittsburgh. ;-)
Here are some name brand products made in China currently:
I just ordered my next Ducati from China, waiting on the free shipping!
Alright you fuckin panseys. It's not about the country or the people. It's about quality control. It's about a shitty product or a good one....
We all know there can be shitty stuff from anywhere, it's just more prevalent in the area of which we speak than where we are living.
This is about brake rotors.
I wanted to hear about actual experience with them. Not debate some bullshit.
I bought some, I'm gonna try them. If they suck, I'm gonna tell you. If they are good, I'm gonna tell you.
What makes you think I don't have direct experience with rotors from China? Come up to Maine, I'll dig out the gallery of success and failures. I've got far more experience dealing with Chinese producers that I ever wanted. That has led me to pretty much limit my shopping to items that are not going to cause me death should they fail spectacularly, and bits I'm willing to re-engineer should they get the specs wrong. Anything else, I buy from a company based in a country that actually puts an onus of liability on the seller so they have some interest in QC. If THEY source from China, fine, the risk is still on them.
You may get some good rotors, you may get shit ones. The problem with buying straight from China is your experience will have zero relevance to the next person who buys from the same seller. If anything bad happens because of crap metalurgy/etc, the 'company' you bought from will be shredded, and a new one propped up in it's place, maybe even with a new name leaving you with no one to go after.
On the clone cars, look up the Cherry QQ. I want to say it's a clone of the Chevy Spark. They copied it to the point that you can swap assemblies directly, including say, doors, etc. Looks like a perfect copy. Till you run them through US crash tests. You'll want to be in the one that shipped with the bow tie out of the crate legitimately should you be in even a 5mph fender bender.
Until China changes their laws, there are certain categories of parts I'm never going to suggest buying from there directly.
Well put. That expands on my earlier points. Let me add to this that online reviews are crap. How hard do you think it is to find a couple to write online reviews? Well I guess the only hole in that argument is the number of instruction manuals I've gotten where they couldn't even pay for a coherent translation. If they do get bad reviews, they don't even have to shred the company, just the eBay listing.

Kurlon, I was not talking to you directly, ya nerd. But I will still come up to Maine and enjoy a few beers with ya!
Was hoping that this didn't turn into another retarded thread...
I'm down with that, you'll have to bring the beer though as I'm only stocked up on hard ciders.![]()
Oh shit....I may have a new hobby?? Is that what you're sayin??
quality control is not an issue that knows international boundaries, I have seen some pretty shoddy products made in good ole USA
