Question for the multi-motorcycle owners...

Do you find time to ride them All?

I'm contemplating selling my 600, but don't want to... I feel it's Just going to sit neglected in the corner all dusty...

Thoughts... Opinions... Advise?

I would like to have two (functioning) motorcycles myself. That way when one breaks, I'll have a backup. To ensure that none of your bikes become "unused" it's your best bet (besides lending one to me ) is to get a diverse selection of Motorcycles.

For example, does your sport-bike need a stablemate? Get an enduro! Touring rig too heavy for little trips to the shop? Get a cafe racer! Liter-bike got too much thrust for tight twisties? Go back to basics with an EX500, or maybe a motard!

See what I'm getting at here?

I've only had two bikes, one for the track and one for the street. I think it more depends on the application of what your considering. No sense in owning a 600 (cbr I'd assume based on your sig) and any other typical sportbike (any 600/750/1000 gsxr, cbr, or ninja for that matter) if your just looking to street ride. Something a little bit more well rounded that offers more comfort may allow you to ride more. I would ride each depending on the style of riding I'd be doing that day. Something more like a tourer will allow you to ride longer, more comfortably. You just need to decide how many of those trips you would do, and will having either bike dedicated to that be worth it. Honestly for the street, comfort is what I look for. I have a z1000 now and it offers the comfortable seating position at speeds less then 70, which is practical. the lower the speeds the more comfortable it is compared to bikes with lower bars. I wouldn't find it a practical application to have two street bikes for how and as often as i ride.

do you ride on the track? if so I's suggest a full track conversion for the 600.

I haven't ridden my 929 since I bought the 600 last August but with gas going up redonkulously high I think I'll put the 929 back on the road and ride it to work even though its only 5 miles away.

What would be the minimal riding requirement on the 600 if I keep it? Am I best to just drain it and plug it in for a year until I'm ready?

Different tools for different jobs.

At one point a few years ago I had two street bikes (a twin and an inline), a track bike and a dirt bike. That ruled. Although I hardly rode the inline at all, it got plenty of use after Nick (ff37buell) went down on his Buell.

I have this feeling as well, but I wouldn't sell it until after this season since I want to get back on the track this year. What really kills me is that both are nice bikes and they are just sitting there right now because I am getting my track bike ready and haven't gotten around to performing the oil change on my street bike.

4 street and 1 track. All have seen use this year. The street bikes will see from probably 1k for least used to 15k for most used. Like stated, variety. And make any excuse you can to ride.

I had 3 at one time and they were all different. I had the cruiser, a sport bike and a 1976 Kawasaki Kz. Every time I thought about selling one I took it for a ride and realized I still liked it.
I'm down to one this year. I kept the cruiser. I'll probably regret it, but I don't see much riding time again this year.

It's an 05 so it's not like another year of depreciation is going to kill the value, besides you do have new sprockets and a chain kicking around as well as race plastics . I think we should get those plastics on and you can sponsor me by lending me your bike and buying me a set of slicks because yours are shot anyway...just sayin

I'm up to 3. Mostly because I can't sell one of them (no buyers). 1 street, 2 dirt. I kinda like having the 2 dirtbikes tho, as they are maintenance intensive, and I can ride one while I tear the other down.

being a recent two owner I can tell you having two bikes, especially since they are so different from each other is great! "sometimes you feel like a houligan, sometmes you dont"! As long as both bring a smile to your face!

They all get used as much as I want to use them.

I find that having very different styles of bikes helps them all get enjoyed. If I have 3 sportbikes, I wouldn't appreciate each one as much.

One for reach day of the week. Which one depends on where I'm going, how long, how far, the weather, whim, and so on.

OP: Having multiple bikes is nice if you like variety, different types or riding or just like to collect (<cough>lxpony<cough>). I haven't touched my street bike yet this year, but no way i'd part with having 2+ bikes. If you love the bike and can afford it, then hang onto it. If its nothing special to you and you'd rather have something else, sell it.
