Wow! 190 is a good deal. I have these on my SMC right now. They are a bit sketchy when cold. I think that's a bridgestone trait as every set I've used has taken a while to come in. Once up to temp they work well though...

Indeed. I have the 002's and they will scream at you if you try to mis-behave before they warm up....but it's really predictable. Excellent tires I think, in fact they're the best I've ridden on.

I have yet to try the 003's. They looked to be more of a race or "gp" tire than the 002's though, so it made me wonder if they would be worth trying on the street. I know of a road in NY where I could get the hot enough...but everywhere else? Well one way to find out

Damn, you have all the answers.
These came on the rims I bought for track use, and I've been dying to find out how they ride... Nothing like a review from a trusted source

Re: Bridgestone Battlax BT003 $249 pair!

Only have the answers when I know what I'm talking about. For the most part.

Bridgestone has had a bad rap in the previous years, and I agree some of the other models of tires they made sucked. BT-014's were beyond terrible. I was skeptical of the 002's but I read many posts of people who had tried them and liked them...course the only way to find out is to try, so I did. Score. Best tire I've ever had on a bike. The 003's apparently replace the 002's, so I imagine they're excellent.

If I had the $ right now, I'd have a set of BT-016's for sale so I could buy another set of 2's or try the 3's.

If you run the 2's soft, they will not last long. I was running 32/34psi front/rear and got around 2200 miles. With my second set I ran 34/36 and they lasted over 3k.

In the end they stick a 1k to the ground better than pilot powers ever stuck my old 750 to the ground. In every way imaginable. And that includes me trying to break the rear lose, intentionally, in corners. The powers would slide on the 750. On the 1k the 002's stick* and the front end lifts. While leaned over. Really... I'm not an escaped mental patient.

    * RT-17 in VT excluded. That damn road sucks with its gray colored silt / film. I can power slide into and out of the corners on that stupid road. And then get some great wheel spin after exiting the turn

Anyone care about date codes on any of these discount hoops?

The last set of bridgestones I liked was a pair I had in 2001. I threw then off the side of a mountain. Unfortunately they we still mounted to my new RC51 at the time.....

Have tried 4 sets since then,002/014/016,race. they all sucked...for me YMMV.

Even more unfortunate was that YOU were mounted to the RC51 at the time! The Bridgestones fly pretty well though, you gotta admit...

I was under the impression that the BT003RS's were actually less grippy than the
BT016's. There are a couple of tests and reviews to confrim this.

The BT003RS is more a race tire that the BT016s. This 003RS have been getting good reviews lately. From what I been reading I gather that they do tend to shed controllable slides when they overheat.
