Which would you pick for street riding at a good clip? I'm finally going to order tires for my 12R and I found a cheap ($100) set of 014s. Just curious if I should go with Dunlops or try something new.
I'll be the first to say it. Neither. There I said it. I think the majority of people will tell you Michelin Pilot Powers are the ones to go with.
But of those two that you listed I like the D208s.
D208's on a 12R is asking for trouble. I could break them loose on command and they took forever to warm up.
Pirelli Diablo Corsas and Pilot Powers are the tires of choice. I've run both and they are both very good.
Get rid of the 200 rear and go with a 190. It will feel like the bike went on a diet.
I run 120/70 on the front and 190/50 on the rear. My next set of tires will be the Power 2CTs with a 190/55 rear.

i had no complaints about the 208s on my old 12R. yeah you can break the rear loose pretty easily, but i had just as much slippage from Michelin i tried. i liked the feel of the Dunlops...but that's personal preferance. the 014s i had on the Z1000 seemed to have abit more stick than the 208s....but that was on a differant bike so it's hard to say.
i'd always wanted to try a set of pirellis on the 12R but never got around to it. i think if i was tire shopping for the 12R today i'd go with the pirellis or the 014s....i liked the 208s but they weren't ideal and there must be something better.
I originally wanted to go with the michelins, but they're just too costly. Especially considering I'm probably going to sell my 12 as soon as the warm weather hits. I just don't want to sell it with shagged tires. I just finalized the 014 order, $120 shipped for a 120 front and 190 rear. I think I'll come out on top, you know, with the rubber side down of course!
gahd damn that's cheap!

even if you liked dunlops the 208 was replaced by the qualifiers so any 208's still around will be older not fresh made
also the 208's take about a year and a half to warm up, the qualifiers got better, but im in love with the 2ct pilot powers
