Re: Alas, a non-bulky alternative to the Chatterbox.
Well... It works at 0mph in my bedroom :P but I haven't tested it on the bike yet.
I'm kinda bummed my phone won't play MP3's through the headset & my phone's GPS doesn't give me turn-by-turn through the headset either.... but I wasn't really expecting it to do that, it was just wishful thinking.
It does however connect to my standalone MP3 player via a chord... and it can connect to a standalone bluetooth equipped GPS.... and I've already begun programing my FM radio presets. Basically, it's done all it's advertised so I can't complain about that.
Overall, I'm happy w/ it, but I won't know for sure how much I like it till I actually use the thing while I'm on the bike.
TLRMan likes his though & his is a step or two below this one.

Re: Alas, a non-bulky alternative to the Chatterbox.
Update after a little on-road use.
Bike to passenger is great.
Phone calls are great.
FM receiver is junk (very tinny sound & weak antenna)

Re: Alas, a non-bulky alternative to the Chatterbox.
Autocom is the only way to go
with bluetooth you can't listen to mp3s in stereo

Is it? You sure about that? Cuz.... I didn't get an Autocom...
So it CAN'T be the only way to go, otherwise I wouldn't be able to go somewhere else... right? :poke:

Got mine a couple of months ago and agree with your assessment. I'll add that bike-to-bike is fantastic. I was really surprised by the range. I could speak clearly with my wife a quarter mile ahead. Could even hear the bugs bouncing off her face shield.

Get yourself a Backberry Curve with ATT Telenav. It works through the headset, which is great for even the car. The only thing that sucks (and why I cancelled it) is that the service is $10/mo and requires unlimited internet, which is $30. I got a garmin nuvi 360 instead.

This is interesting!! I might have to get one of these!

Thats why you ge the Spring Unlimited Everything plan and you don't have to worry about calling, texting, internet, gps... it's all included.
I actually try to see how many minutes I can talk in a month to get the most out of my plan... last month I had over 2000 mins and 400 text messages (Not all from me, my girlfriend uses it when we are at home too). didn't cost me a penny more than $99 (plus all the stupid taxes) :plusone:

I'm definitely interested in getting a MUlti-set and that price is damn good. The biggest drawback on paper is that it's not A2DP (no Bluetooth stereo). Have you tried bike-to-bike much yet? How's the range?

Re: Alas, a non-bulky alternative to the Chatterbox.
They're on ebay now for about 245 shipped. Google shopping hasn't found anything considerably lower than that .
Ebay!

Re: Non-bulky alternative to the Chatterbox.
Pete - How you like the Scala? Sorry for the bad gramma.

Re: Non-bulky alternative to the Chatterbox.
I love mine, on my second set (only because I wanted bluetooth prioritization). I've had my first set since 2007 and they still work fine...and they work with the Q2's I just got back in June.
I'm not Pete but I did sleep at a holiday inn last night ;)
-
Re: Non-bulky alternative to the Chatterbox.
I'm diggin em!
The FM antenna on the Q2 sucks, though. But otherwise, :twothumb:
As an added bonus, I use Verizon Navigator and it talks to me through the headset :naughty

Re: Non-bulky alternative to the Chatterbox.
Thanks, Gents. Think I'll pick up a set sometime soon.
