I am looking for a bit of advice here. I ride a 1996 Triumph T-Bird Adventurer, which is a bit of a standard bike. I have installed "normal" height standard T-Bird bars (which replaced the outrageous stock ape hangers), but the bars still have a lot of sweep to them. When I ride my bike for over 2 or 3 hours, my left shoulder starts burning so bad that I have to lay my arm across my tank bag. The burning does not go away for a long time. The painful sensation is located more towards my back, but definately on the left.
I was thinking of installing some lower, straighter bars, but I was wondering if anybody here has experienced anything similar and might offer some advice.
Thanks!
Here is one thing I have learned. Don't live with burning shoulders and elbows and such. Usually you have a tear and they do not heal by themselves, see a Dr, be agressive and tell him you want it fixed, if he gives you crap find another Dr.
I had a similar experience. Got to where I could barely raise my arm to put a shirt on after "dealing" with the pain. Get it looked at. If its burning, its not the bike with issues. On a positive note, 6 weeks off with good pills, weeks of rehab and haven't had a problem since the surgery

Plus you could spend the money on new bars and still have an f'd up shoulder. Just my 2 pennies worth.

Thank you both for the recommendation. Although I do not know of any injury to that shoulder, I did separate my clavicle on the other side many years ago (I caught a cable with my neck that had been strung across the trail, at high speed while riding my KDX200). I will ask my doctor about the burning sensation, but do not expect good information or cooperation. I have little faith in modern medicine these days.
go to the docs and get a cordazone shot.... will help the healing
Did you get an injury recently or in the past?
