So as most of you know I completely totalled my 06 GSXR 750 snapping the frame this past September..The wife told me I can spend up to 7k cash money homie on a new bike...
What would you buy? I am not partial to any brand or engine size.
I live in TX so please dont send me links to bikes in the for sale section.
Pretty much tire kicking online right now but would like to hear some outsider imput. Thanks

Ask pete which one, listen as long as his answer isn't "the one i have for sale, for exactly your max #"
The 06 R1 was my favorite of them all, for 7k I'm sure you can find a nice clean R1 in the 04-08 range
It was comfortable for me, ultra smooth engine, great looks![]()
Yamaha
04 rsvr factory. I know where you can find one for less than $7000.![]()
If I had 7k to spend willy-nilly on motorcycles, i'd probably get a fairly aggressive dual sport (rfs based) and a little less expensive streetbike. A monster or something. 2500-3k for the ktm, the rest for something more commutable.
Cliff's Cycles KTM
NETRA enduro B-vet

I would get a KTM Duke.

Depends what you want. What will you be using your bike mostly for? Commuting? Canyon carving? Track? 2007 GSXR1000 is a comfortable, street worthy liter bike. A more versatile bike would be a 2008-2009 FZ1. For something like a street fighter a 2008 Street Triple should be a blast. And, of course, you can't go wrong with another GSXR750 (2008) for that price. Will you be riding two up a lot? It is hard to find a bike that will do everything very well, so it really depends on what you will use your bike for and what percentage of riding time will be spent doing what you are doing.
GSXR 750 or 1K.........you could find an 05-06 and still have 1500-2k to spend on extras

I would go ducati hyper. But that's based on my stereotype of Texas with plenty of off road opportunities envisioned. If your sticking street bike then that may not be the best option.
Triumph Speed Triple if you want to stick to pavement, KTM 690 Enduro if you want to get dirty.
If you want to do both... for $7k you could easily pick up an older Speed Triple 955i AND a DR-Z400 or something.

With the new V4 out, you can get some great deals on RSV or Tuono Factories. Depending what you are going to do with it, one of those may fit the bill.
I would get 2.
But what kind of riding do you plan on doing?

husky/ktm supermotard. there's allot in texas used for sale. unfortunately nothing close to me.
Put the 7k down on the new 2011 750...or 1k... they are sexyyyy then finance the rest![]()
I'd take the 7k and stash it, save up the extra 4/5k and wait until the 2012 bikes come out. Most models are going to be upgraded to compete w/the Euro. bikes like the BMW S1000RR. I'm especially waiting for Yamaha to come out with the new R6. If that's not an option, then for 7 grand you can basically get whatever you want used.

06 Gsxr 1K was the best bike I ever owned
If your near Houston skip a bike till you move... get a boat instead
I plan on just street riding...after escaping death in my accident my wife says I gotta ride like an old man now. So basically just cruising around. My wife rides so no two up going on. I appreciate everyones input...two bikes isn't a bad idea..as far as putting 7k down on a bike...I was told at a young age never to finance a toy so that's out of the question.

Texas? I'd go with a Street Triple.
Naked bike, so more air flow = cooler you and cooler bike, plus comfortable seating position
Smaller displacement, slightly detuned = less hooliganism
triple =
plus it will still keep you entertained
'06 Triumph Sprint ST ABS
'90 Yamaha XT350
I'd go speed or street triple, z1000, tuono, monster, something naked. Or a sprint/tiger if you want something more practical. Or maybe wait a while and get a ridiculously impractical dorsoduro 1200 used....
