Hey im taking the Navy MSF course here in Newport, just opened up but only catch is you have to use your own bikes, all the others give you the little shitty 250's and Im going to be running it on my 600rr anyone done it on a street bike any tips for taking it on a super sport thanks.....
When are they having that?
Bruce
every 2 weeks starting june 12th and two erc a month too...
You'd be much better off taking the MSF with the provided 250's...a lot easier to do the small figure 8's.

haha no i actually feel like passing thanks though haha other wise I have to wait until the end on june for CCRI and that is two weeks so by the time I got my licence throught CCRI the season would be coming to a close this way I will be done with the MSF by the 13th of june...
If it's the same course...
I had no problem with it in '86 aboard my new GSX-R750. Even managed to do the eight-in-a-box deal. But I thought they got rid of that?
For slow manuevers, 2nd gear & slipping the clutch works for me. Also, for slow speed braking, I prefer to use the rear brake.

yeah I actually work with one of the guys that runs the course out here I have to ask him if they did away with the figure 8's

I didn't know they opened one in newport, damnit... doesn't matter anyway since I still haven't picked up a bike yet.
I don't really quite understand though - this doesn't make sense. MSF is required in RI to get your license. So basically, you have to illegally ride your bike down to the navy base to become legally certified to ride your motorcycle, which you still won't be even upon leaving since you need to turn the cert. into a permit at the dmv? And they facilitate this? What is the hit for riding without an endorsement? The same as driving without a license?
I've been fuming mad at CCRI. I signed up last year, went to two courses then missed one. They dropped me out of the program (it was september) and I couldn't finish. I had to repay the upped fee this year, which is sixty bucks. And now I've finally been rescheduled for the 10th and will end on the 24th. It's taken me A YEAR to get my motorcycle endorsement.
I realize the MSF is great, but I'd really love to have the
option to take it, or a more organized and quicker way of taking it than the crap I've been through.
I took the course at CCRI back in the spring of 1996, $20 and it was a 1 day dealOriginally posted by Zolden

The instructor was a hardcore harley rider and the 2 topics he kept drilling into our heads that day was to fight for your rights to not wear a helmet and also not have to use your headlightI shit you not, that's what this clown talked about... all day.
I signed up for the advanced class yet I had NEVER been on anything with 2 wheels and a motor up until that day. I rode a buddies CR250 mx bike the morning of my classI passed the test the first time, never dropped the bike but I did run over a bunch of cones

As the tough harley clown handed me my card, he looked me in the eye and told me I was going to die before the summer was over![]()

When I took the advanced MSF course I used my gsxr. Everyone gave me looks when I pulled up on the only street bike. One guy dropped his brand new v-rod. Another guy locked up the front of his harley and dropped his bike too. Meanwhile I passed with the highest grade in the class.
The navy course just started a few weeks ago, they have only had one class go through sence it started, you are "supposed" to trailor your bike to the course and then back to your house each day, yeah I know it's stupid but it's free and only two days haha they have the class 2 times a month and they have an Expert Rider Course once or twice a month too so that's cool...
