I considered posting this in the Maintenance section, but its not so much about the actual work done, but is mainly my intention to thank Ryan publicly for all his recent help working on my bike. Starting with a DID chain and sprocket replacement back in May, all the way to yesterday when we wrapped up the final touches on valve shim and CCT replacements to troubleshooting a nagging bad coil and carb jet problem, among other work. Not to mention a visit from our local Officer Friendly cuz neighbors were complaining of a loud motorcycle engine being revved....at night....well past the 5 pm curfew on excessive noise...LMAO!! Ryan took time out of his busy schedule during the week(s), coming over after work to keep this project moving along, and also a few saturdays, etc. Ryan taught me a lot not only by working with me but by also explaining things to me so that I feel confident to do more work on my bike other than normal maintenance. His work was thorough and he took pains to redo some things in the name of checking and rechecking things to eliminate possible problems. In particular was my badly running carb set up. Turns out #4 cylinder wasnt firing properly, if at all. So we replaced the coil and cleaned out the slow jets which turned out to be clogged. He unselfishly loaned me his coil til I get a new replacement. And we switched out the coil and plug wires til we determined what the problem was. And thats just the short list of what we did. Only by his being patient and tenacious did the problem get solved. So now...the bike runs like it hasnt in years, and all the original power has been restored. Anyway, a lot of work went into the many things we ended up doing to my bike, and I feel very thankful to Ryan for all his help and instruction. He repeatedly refused compensation beyond our original agreement, despite going above and beyond with all his extra efforts....until finally I said "Fuck you!" to him yesterday and made sure he took my offering. You cant put a dollar figure on knowledge like that and the willingness to help. So, thanks again, bro!!
PS....maybe we'll do those progressive springs this fall!![]()

kudos to ryan for being a good guy. the best way to learn is always from someone else showing you the ropes. if only everything went so smoothly we'd have a much better place to live in.![]()
Awe shucks guys...thanks.
Honestly, it's pretty gratifying to pass a little know-how on. It is a good feeling being able to do the basics without being handcuffed to to $95/hr shop rates.
Glad you're happy, Mark.

HAHAHA!! Not really....fortunately, Rye had all the right tools. We even went to a local parts store to get me some new metric/standard box wrench tools...all shiny and stuff! Its a great investment to say the least. My old selection was getting kinda "scattered". One thing, tho...I gotta remember to pick up one of those long magnet probe thingys...we had a bitch of a time with the valve shim on no. 1 exhaust dropping down behind the springs. Ryan fished it out with a slim allen wrench. LOL. You know...necessity is the mother of invention! We had a good laugh, cuz it happened on two different nights, and I went running to my neighbors to borrow his magnet only to find Ryan had fished it out yet again! Gotta get me a manometer too......and a bunch of other stuff...DOH!

Damn, if I knew you had sticks, maybe I wouldn't have needed to buy the Morgan sticks.....I could have borrowed yours!, and had you set up the top end in the Tiller for me! You got degree wheel, and drop indicator?
Actually I needed my own anyway, and since they don't have mercury in them now, they will last a very long time.
Been busy doing the tuning thing..I had another TLR over that was 5 units younger than mine..His was #43, and mine is #48.
Anyway, You gotta take the Tiller for a spin, I think you'll like it since your last sampling. It still has a good torque curve, and managed to keep the midrange intact, which I was shooting for, but really pulls like hell on top now.
I think the weather looks good for Saturday, will have to hit up Oreogab, and a couple other peeps to see if we can pull something off.
You still got my #?
Too old to rock and roll, too young to die.
Sunday works better for me, plans & weather wise. How bout you guys?

Nick is an old HS buddy of mine that's somewhat new to riding, he came riding w/ Mark, Scott & I last weekend. We had a great time.
So you in, bro? I put up a thread in Rides & Events.
