Wow, I'm suprised to read that the new Ducati will have a carbon frame. Motorcycle Daily
There's a weight limit in GP, so I'm guessing Ducati is not acheiving the minimum allowed weight? Or would there be other benefits that are not weight centered? I thought this has been tried with unpredictable durability? Also, I guess that's the end of the trellis!!!

Perhaps the C-F's ability to dampen chassis vibration/harmonics aids traction? It might also act to isolate unsprung suspension components (swingarm, fork yokes/uppers) from acting on each other. Less vibes is better, no matter what.
Get a new streetbike yet?

I read this there:
Casey:
"We were quickly into some decent times using the same set-up as the GP8. We barely changed anything to adapt it to the characteristics of the GP9 and I immediately felt an improvement so that is positive. I'm sure that with more time to work on it we can go much faster, although that is not the current brief. We'll have time to test it in the winter. "
Winter? I'd think that they want to go with the GP9 sooner
dont ya think?
"I immediately felt an improvement so that is positive"
Don't ya hate it when they just give these vague comments on
machine characteristics just to keep the competition in the dark.
What improvement?

isnt carbon supposed to be stiff? thats its main characteristic right? so how would it help "dampen" vibes? i thoguht thats why no one uses carbon for frames, ive read its too stiff and doesnt allow enough flex?

Hmm.. never thought about it till now, but I suppose you could look at it this way... flick a piece of aluminium & you can hear it ring just a tad.. flick a piece of CF & you just hear a thud.
