First ride of the season on the new bike...

... and all I can say is HOLY F'ING SHIT! This thing is WORLDS beyond the 600s I've ridden acceleration wise. My brain just couldn't process the sheer increase in speed. It also scared the shit out of me when it came up in 1st....2nd....3rd... Jesus Christ. The windy roads are still all shitted up with salt and sand around here, so it will be a few weeks before I can really stretch it's legs, but so far, the grin on my face is this big ^_______________________^ Ear to ear!

    So pumped for this year.

What did you used to ride? You noticed the most difference in powerband above 7 or 8rpm?

Whoops, I rode the R1. I was going to ride Old Trusty, but I just couldn't resist her, she was begging me to ride her in her shiny red paint

I've only ridden the bike up and down the street briefly before, never getting past 6K. But My God after that the bike just opens up, it's just like a flood of power

well it's obvious that when you went on a ride today, you took the R1 (which is presumably your new bike)

but what OTHER bikes did you ride, that made the R1 seem fast?

the yamaha triple doesn't count...that's not even a comparison

Got ya. I've ridden my buddies 636 quite a bit, another up at school has an 05 R6 in blue and I've ridden that a few times, test rode a few others, but mostly coming from some relatively quick UJMs (XS11, KZ1300, GS1100 etc) And a few years ago I used to ride a ragged out 93 GSXR750.

Yeah, the '04-'06 comes on like a shot of NOS. Fun, but careful where you point that thing.
