ok i sold my z1000 last weekend. i'm looking for a xr/dr/klr 650 to commute on. i've replied to at least 10 ad's. only one response! you want to sell your shit? respond. already sold? delete your ad! i hold off on one deal when i see a better one. no responce after a day i go to the old one and its sold. FML.
I just sent a email on one in Rhode island . I hope he comes through . I have had the same experience as you though too.
CL is a tough place to work with these days.
The scammers and robots have ruined it.
Mike, where did your Z go and can I ask what you got for it??

I'm having the same issues looking for a job. No one answers emails. Whether they are "resumes" I'm sending or just asking if its still avail, I've yet to get a single response.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

cl on all ends seems to not work 85% of the time people email asking if i still have an item respond and hear nothing back.

Make sure your response wouldn't be thought of as possibly coming from a bot. I have sold a few things on craigslist and probably blew off a few serious inquiries. If I'm not 99.9999% sure that the email was from a person and not a bot, I aint responding. Been there, done that, and got bombarded with spam.
Including your location and a time you'd like to look at the bike might increase the response rate....or not...there's a lot of lazy bastages that can't be bothered to remove their listing after a sale.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
In my ads I always put something to the effect of "Include phone number if serious"- I'd say 95% of the time the person who ends up buying the item put their phone number in their first response. I use that method to root out people- if they ask if the bike is available I simply say "Yes, any questions?" if they ask a bunch of stupid questions "Is there rust inside the gas tank" (I've actually gotten that question when I stated the bike was always stored indoors- No, I take the fucking tank off and put it outside in the rain) I generally don't respond cause I know that a lowball is coming in the next email "I'll come down from Boston next weekend, how's $1300 hundred sound??" on a $2k ad.
Usually is they respond asking if the "item is still available"? It's a scammer. I usually screw with them for a while, my latest is Ms Jessica who wanted to buy my laptop for her missionary son in nigeria. I had her going for about 3 weeks before she gave up.

i see you and I have crossed paths in the past on craigslist
hmmmm......
I have sold a set of rims/tires, one car, multiple Blackberries and a few random pieces of furniture. Maybe I just have good luck![]()
I've been trying to sell my DR650 for a couple weeks on various forums, posted it on CL this morning, sold it 4 hrs. later. I got no complaints.
Shopping for a track bike could be another story.
I particularly love the people that post ads saying "Please call for information. SPAMMERS WILL BE REPORTED TO THE FBI!!!!!!!!"
Yeah, f*** craigslist! Sent 8-9 emails today. Got only 1 response back. Stupid f***s, why put them ads for sale then.....And if you sold it, remove the damn ad......
