What the f*ck is wrong with people?

I got into a little "incident" this afternoon coming back from seeing a friend and get my bike fixed. Someone literally ran me off the road and tried to kill me. No way he could have said "I didn't see her" because he was looking STRAIGHT at me, with a big stupid smile on his damn ugly face. He cut 3 lanes in one shot, and came straight at me. I was in the far right lane (slow lane), on my way to take the exit for Springfield MA off of I-91, near Hartford. I had nowhere to go, one car behind me and never had enough time to speed up. I braked as fast as I could in the brakedown lane, and *almost* manage coming to a full stop..but nooooo...I fell on my back, trying to keep the bike from falling over and it landed on me. Bike has nothing that I'm aware of, but my back and shoulders hurt. Car behind me stopped, and told me he saw another car going after that asshole, but the guy speed up pretty fast after pulling that stunt.

Adrenaline was so high, I just got up, spitting out french swearing words, lifted my bike up, got back on and went to the next exit. Sat down in the grass of a gas station and tried to calm myself down for nearly half an hour. I got one of the biggest scare of my life, and I still can't comprehend WHY someone would want to hurt me/kill me like that. Hate for motorcycles? Jealousy? WTF?!!

I don't get it. I just don't. There is nothing to understand with people doing that sort of thing. Some of them will go and shoot someone randomly on the streets...I guess some others just prefer to run people on bikes off the road.

I had a guy in a truck literally run me into the dirt when I was in my truck. I only got 2 of the numbers in his plate, but called 911 with those and the make of his vehicle.

A similar incident happened to me a couple of weeks ago, I hope it wasn't intentional as I couldn't see the person's face but it did make me go down and boy was I pissed. It's amazing how adrenaline will allow you to use the ground as a trampoline.

Funny thing is...I wanted to put on my Fieldsheer mesh jacket before leaving the house, was thinking "It's hot today", then got a weird feeling that I should just wear my leather Alpinestars and sweat it out. Before this shit happened, I had sat in jammed traffic for about half an hour, with trailer vans all around me, exhausting so much heat I thought I'd die from being so hot. I'm glad I did wear my leather jacket today. Was wearing jeans (they are wrecked, the only ones I like to wear, had to go get myself another pair before tomorrow), gloves, boots, and my helmet of course, altho I have seen countless bikers in CT not wearing a helmet today.

I'd say attempted vehicular homicide. Or the guy was dumb enough to think that he could push you aside safely so he could make his exit(I would still call vehicular homicide). Thats fucked up. Glad your ok. Too bad there wasn't some kind of law enforcment around at the right time. Some people think a motorcyclist is a bicyclist and so the cars have right of way.

I was just having a conversation with my wife yesterday about if when she rides she notices that people either honk randomly, tailgate, and almost hit her NOT by accident and she stated the same thing happens to her every time out.

I am glad you are ok, I hope you can recall anything you saw, how old this guy was, what kind of car etc. (play it back in your head and write things down) If you want grab one of those full color free automobile for sale mags and start looking at the cars and see if one jumps out at you. In the least, that is assault with a dangerous weapon to wit car. I would call the state police in the area it happened and give them all the info, you never know, schmucko may have done something like this before, and he is so blatant (looking at you and smiling) that he will probably do it again as he thinks he got away with it.

I emphasize w/you. I commute everyday, rain or shine and and see a small % of people who know they can intimidate a biker and do it. I expect it to happen at least weekly.
