I just got done taking a bunch of deep scratches out of a windsheild from a damaged R1, I wasn't sure I could do it, Most of the time when one is damaged I just throw it away. This one was bad, so figured to try and save it. I sanded out the scratches with 320 grit sandpaper,, Now it looked realy bad,, I then put it on my polishing wheel and used a 180 grit paste on the wheel then worked my way up to a high polish paste. The wind screen came out like new. You have to be very careful not to get the plastic hot, make gentle moves with the wheel othere wise it will smudge the plastic, causing distortion, in the plastic.. I have also used the buffing wheel to clean up my helmet viser,, I have just never used sandpaper on the visor, Hope this saves someone else some money
I don't know for sure. I think if I were to weld it up, that the heat from the weld would distort the plastic enough so that you could see it. I have fixed them were they mount to the fairing, but it was in a spot that you could not see.. I will play with it and let you know.
Huh, huh, huhhuh
P-Weld's gonna "play with it"...
