is the 200 new? last year they had a 125 that looked exactly the same and it came in 3 different trims. i know one was "stunt" and the other 2 were like "street" and "race"

Re: why can't we get this here

oh, and why cant we get it here? numerous reasons. not least of which is small displacement bikes dont sell as well here. mainly because we dont have the tiered licensing system that they have in europe. this kinda pushes companies to make smaller displacement bikes in order to be able to sell bikes period.
second reason....its naked. naked bikes just dont sell here either. they are a niche group. you think naked are cool, i think they are cool. ill say that a great number of people on this board think they are cool. but how many would buy one? KTM sells that super duke. its naked. doesnt sell very well. could be the price tag but honda made the 599/919, both awesome bikes...didnt sell. hell even the SV1K (a bike that everyone begged for when the 650 came out) didnt sell very well. and i have the proof of that as i bought my 03 as a left over (new, 0 miles) in like 06 or 07.

Slap some fairings on it. Honda can't keep CBR250Rs on the showroom floor.

True for some, but for the entry level market, I think a full faired bike is more attractive to those who are only using it as a stepping stone to get to a SS bike. There are MANY entry level riders who care very much about looks and appearance.

That's the point. A naked bike is FAR sexier than a faired bike.

Again, for some, and for perhaps the more experienced, knowledgeable crowd.

For the "yo I waahhnt a Gixxah duuuude" crowd, not so much.

Unfortunately because of bullshit such as this....

we don't see some of the cool, small displacement bikes that Europe sees. We get what the manufacturers think will appeal to the youthful, beginner riders.

Just for shits, a random hot photo I found while searching for lame pics of squids on gixxers...

Supposedly KTM is coming out with a Duke 350 that probably will be available here... Basically the same bike as the 200, but with a 350 engine.

Good point on the 599/919. I know 2 current and 2 former 919 riders, they like them and claim they are just a great all around that does nothing great, but nothing wrong. Reminds me of a recent version of the CB750.
