I want something that:

1.) can fit a lunch

2.) can stay collapsed to look cool, be less bulky, and can double as a seat

The Cycle Guys - Fast Pack. Padded seat when zipped up and collapsed,

amazon reviews are 5-stars, and it's only like $52 + s&h

I called Tim at cycle guys (they're in Anaheim, CA - on my way to work today!), got the measurements for the "universal" bag (no more than 3" thick seats will fit), and confirmed that it'll wrap around my 1995 Yamaha FZR600 seat since there isn't something made to fit for it

so far I'm thinking that's my best option - anyone else?

I just use a bungee net. Stuff it under the seat when not in use, or leave it. Just don't hoon too much or you may lose your lunch. Ask me how I know.

if not - how do you know?

reason being, I'm using this for lunch...it will typically be a tupperware container and a banana or orange (which is why I think a bag > bungee)...but I think emergency bungee in the pouch sounds like it'll give me flexibility

No pun intended. I actually lost a burrito on Rte 2 somewhere between Cambridge and Acton...either at Crosby's corner or at the Concord Rotary. I was quite angry at myself when I got home.

The net is big enough to hold a full size salad from Wendy's. I would put any extra items (banana/orange) in the plastic bag and then bungee the whole thing to the back seat so nothing falls out.

For lunches I prefer a tank bag that I bring in with me to work.

thanks, thought about this, and tried out a couple, but my stupid "tank" is actually a plastic shell...no metal makes it difficult to magnetically clip to, plus you have to move it when you get gas

Many tank bags come in a strap version as well. They are typically a few bux cheaper too.

I think the net is the most economical solution. You can keep your passenger seat available and you won't be futzing with a strap-mount tank bag at the gas station.

Then again, $50 isn't bad for luggage like that.

I have the Cycle Guys tail bag and love it! I can bring a change of full work clothes (dress shoes, pants, etc.) and even fit a little more. Can definitely hold a bigger lunch than the average person can eat.

However, I don't believe you are supposed to leave it on for passengers. I take it off when riding 2 up.

If it's a "padded seat when zipped up," why not?

Does this come off of the seat easily, or do you bring the whole seat inside with you?

I have the "universal" model and it can be removed...but you have to take the seat off to remove the velcro

and I sat on it today..why not leave it on for passengers?

I believe that's their recommendation. But you have a valid point. It is a pain for me to put on and take off since my rear seat is attached with a bolt.

Another idea: What I did on my old Kawi, and worked really well - I ebayed an extra rear seat, removed the foam, and bolted a Givi mount to it. Here's some pics. I had a 50L Givi, but you can get smaller ones and cheaper ones. (JCWhitney sells some cheaper ones) If you want to take a passenger, just put the stock seat back on.

Plus one for the cycle guys. JROD has one on her SV and it's awesome! It totally works as a seat still.

Also Tom & Tim (the cycle guys) are great guys. Tom manages the D Store here in orange county.

Forgive the bump….

I’m looking for an easy luggage solution.

On the Street Bob I have a fork bag that is the tits. Big rectangular bag with a triangular clear pouch that I can stick my phone in to use nav.

That’s not an option on the Scrambler.

To Spoolers point, they have a one sided option, but I’m not sure I want to commit to that yet… and a two bag set up would hide the high rise side mounted exhaust.


Tank bags I’ve always been scared they will nick or scratch the tank.



I’m looking at tail bags, but have a one piece seat.

I’m assuming between running straps under the seat, through the subframe, and the rear grab handle I should be able to secure anything…..



Just tossing it out to you all in case there’s a known great option.

I have run the same tail bag with both a one-piece and 2-piece seat. In fact, I often switch between the two. I use the Nelson Rigg Commuter Sport bag and enjoy it but I imagine it accomplishes the same thing as most other bags that utilize straps under the seat.

On a side note, I just looked it up on Revzilla and feel like the price has nearly doubled since I bought mine and it hasn't been that long.

I've never liked tank bags due to them covering the gas cap, but the new-to-me Speed Triple I bought from Kenn included the SW-Motech tank bag with a quicklock ring. I really like it! it doesn't touch the tank at all, stays put, and is very easily removed/installed.

They do make a rear rack for the bike, just another thing I’m not completely set on. If my wife takes to riding her Rebel, then I’ll never have anyone else on the bike, so if a tail bag works on the seat… one less part to buy.

X2 on the Nelson rigg commuter tail bag. Was 99$ when I bought it last year.
