unless you're going to a tier 1 school ranked well in the particular department you're interested in, with ties to local businesses, or you're concerned w' "the experience", just go to your local state school because it's cheaper...

if you're looking for that big-name school, there are plenty in the northeast: harvard, mit, bu, bc, nyu, dartmouth, brown, columbia, etc.

just remember: college is not a technical school...it's about the experiences you get and the people you meet

what do you want to study?

UVM is the only school in vermont im really looking at. aside from that id like to experiance somewhere else in america. but CT and Mass are cool because (in the case of mass) its near a big city, i have alot of family in danbury ct, and i already have alot of knowledge of the area and its orginizations (NETRA, LRRS, NESR, NEMX etc etc).

im not really looking at a top tier school. but a good school with much to offer in the ways od academics and general student life.

LOL...go to the beet college, he'll learn you right up!

Seriously - do what sedition says, go somewhere big, like Boston. Lots of colleges nearby = lots of college pussy.

I'm just finishing Computer Science at UMass Amherst this semester. I had a great experience. UMass is a lot of fun - lots of girls and great social scene. The bars out here are a lot of fun too.

I've also got a great job lined up because UMass is a great school - the CS department is #5 in the nation. Many other departments are highly rated as well. I know Chomsky started the Linguistics department, and it's still rated #1 here.

The riding is also great out here. It's a short 15 min ride away from 116. On Sundays I often do 116 and route 2 in 2-2.5 hours. For people out East that's a full day trip usually.

I think I have a few party albums in my Webshots... if you want to see a little of what it's like out here. I highly recommend UMass Amherst. In NE, I also looked at WPI, which is more expensive, and not necessarily better (in CS anyways). It's also 85% or more male.

Any school close to Boston will get you the experience just because there are so many around. I went to Bentley college which is in Waltham. Just far enough from the city to have a little countryside and close enough to be able to get there in 10-15min. The school also provides a free shuttle to students that brings you from the campus to Harvard square. I dont know what youre looking to do but its a business college and a very good one.
